Welcome to Sleep Dep. :wtf:

One of the symptoms of which is mania. Another of which is psychosis. (For a list of the most common symptoms of sleep dep go here Effects of Sleep Deprivation on the Body

Biologically, without sleep, the brain freaks the hell out & is no longer governing all it's systems as it's supposed to be. Not only do thoughts and emotions become unstructured, but the chemicals & electrical impulses that govern everything from how alert we are to our core temperature... Go completely -and increasingly- haywire. Everything in our body works, because the brain tells it to. When the brain starts sending mixed up signals? Things stop working the way they're supposed to.

Without the addition of chemicals (which have their own side effects) &/or training (which only adds a day or so, and there's still massive problems) to kinda-sorta-maybe keep those systems in balance most people have a max of about 2-3 days awake before very rapid decline in their ability to function. This has been studied tons and tons and tons by militaries -and others- around the world, so we have a reeeeally accurate description of what happens, and the timeframe it happens in, and what things make everything worse, or can delay the effects of sleep deprivation, and for how long, and what those side effects will be.

The single best cure for sleep dep = sleep.

Whether that's gotten naturally or is the byproduct of a sedative doesn't really matter in the short term. Sleep is necessary for the brain to work right.

I'm the same way. Sleep deprivation will drive ya nuts, even if you don't feel like you're tired!

Have you tried anything like Melatonin or sleep meds for those days? They can make you a little groggy in the morning, but it's still better than nothing.
