Who Do You Tell About Your Trauma(s)?

@xena21

I have only told 2 people in the last 10 years and neither gave me a bad reaction but both were told only after years of friendship. Interesting both of these friends are high functioning but have heavy issues from their childhood (not Csa). I think their life experience is why we can be close friends, and why telling was not a problem.

When I was young (pre 16) and still suffering abuse I told many people as I was reaching out for help. I have lots of bad experiences from that time period.

An additional thought.

I have a new friendship developing with a mother of my kids friend. I have known her almost 3 years now and I really like her. I thought about telling her many times as my Csa limits me and she has wanted to do normal things with me and the kids that I can't do. Something has stopped me telling her. She is very intelligent, educated and everything...but I don't think she would "get it" and I am concerned about a negative reaction (and that reaction impacting my kid friendships). I have decided not to tell her, which is personally disappointing as it means our friendship will never develop further, but I don't want to take the risk that I feel exists with her.
