Some of us have Therapy more than once per week, while others have no Therapy at all, due to cost...and everything in between.

I've often wondered where the money comes from in all of the different countries and situations.

I'm sure others have wondered as well, so I thought I'd create this Poll.

I could not include other options in the Poll, because of site limits.

Please explain if your situation is NOT covered in the Poll.

Thanks!

Well, it's goverment funded. Though, the biggest cost for me is the 10 dollars there and back trip to the city where my theraphist/psychiatrist (the same person) is. But I mostly manage to fit another thing in the day so it's not me going just for theraphy (a 2 hour drive, or bus).

@void
Infinite, technically, but depends on how often I can go and if my theraphist is sick, but like, I've had some times when it was multiple times a week for 2 years, and now I'm at once every 2 weeks, depends on need. But generally haven't met a limit yet

I don't think there even is one

Victims compensation paid for 20 sessions in the beginning of my treatment.

I now pay 100% of a slightly discounted rate because my therapist is willing to do a discounted rate/sidling scale. No outside source helps pay for it.

I have health insurance that could pay for some or all of therapy, but the therapists they cover are crap and not trained to treat trauma. At all. My therapist doesn't take insurance.

It's one of the many costs of trauma.

Wow:wideeyed:
I'm glad for you that there is no limit to the amount or frequency of therapy you can have.
I hope it is helping you heal.

Where I am, there is ZERO funding from any government...you are on your own.
Also, Psychiatrists here do NOT take any new patients...at all...NONE.
So unless you are an Inpatient you get nothing.
I can't afford any therapy so I'm SOL.:depressed::(

That is awful, I thought Canada had a better healthcare system?
It's really surprising to hear this.

And yea, I've been with the same theraphist for years, and then had a pause, and now continued.

An...

Canada's healthcare system has never covered Psychologists.:(
People have had to pay out of pocket or buy insurance that covers Psych., even then there is a harsh annual limit.:(

Btw, Canada's economy has been badly damaged by the falling Oil price and so major cuts to all services are guaranteed.
All sub-sections of Canada and the Federal Gov't are facing huge budget deficits.
Plus our real estate bubble will break VERY soon and damage our economy much more than Oil has done.
Vancouver's AVERAGE house price is like 1.8 MILLION dollars:wideeyed:.
Insane, hey?:banghead:

That is quite chaotic.

Though, there are some thing that can help when theraphy isnt much of an option

I pay out of pocket and as a self employed, part-time worker, I calculate that 20% of my income is going to my therapist. In other words, the money I inherited from my parents has been repurposed to fix the damage they did. So, thanks fer nuthin', folks! :poop:

I cast two votes. Partial reimbursement and no reimbursement. Partial because my therapist is considered a preferred provider under my insurance plan, so I just have to pay the co-pay (well plus whatever I pay for my insurance). No reimbursement because I also have tried (at various times) a variety of other practitioners who are not covered and/or don't take insurance: homeopathy, somatic experiencing, craniosacral. It is pretty sad to see my savings depleted from therapy treatment.

Out of pocket. $120-$180 p/session on the lower end

...

I'm not in therapy right now. Which is probably for the best because I'm a mess. (Yo! Stabilization! Get yer ass over here! :P )

Payment is/was definitely a major issue since I haven't had any income for about a year, now.

If I cared enough about it I could probably figure out a way. To be blunt I'm fighting a losing battle caring about living. Once I might could sort that BS out, then it'll be time to get creative, again.
