Probably because cannabis is federally illegal, and so the general bias is that it's 'bad' but that is inaccurate in my opinion. It has many medicinal uses, and I'd say it tends to be easier on the body than say alcohol so safer for recreational use than alcohol. It's been legalized in my state more or less, like you can smoke it if you're over 21, and even grow a couple plants and possess up to a certain amount but it has not become a regulated/taxed product yet unless of course one has their MMJ card and can go to a dispensary.
I have found it useful for PTSD symptoms, especially the indica strains...though I have not experienced any bad effect from sativa strains. They just aren't typically quite as helpful, as they don't cause as much physical sedation like indicas, so aren't as helpful for the physical tension and anxiety symptoms I get. Now if only it was a more approved treatment for PTSD, though I realize just like any other drug/medication it wouldn't help everyone but it certainly does have potential.
