General Why Does So Much Ptsd Material Say Pot Is Bad?

Probably because cannabis is federally illegal, and so the general bias is that it's 'bad' but that is inaccurate in my opinion. It has many medicinal uses, and I'd say it tends to be easier on the body than say alcohol so safer for recreational use than alcohol. It's been legalized in my state more or less, like you can smoke it if you're over 21, and even grow a couple plants and possess up to a certain amount but it has not become a regulated/taxed product yet unless of course one has their MMJ card and can go to a dispensary.

I have found it useful for PTSD symptoms, especially the indica strains...though I have not experienced any bad effect from sativa strains. They just aren't typically quite as helpful, as they don't cause as much physical sedation like indicas, so aren't as helpful for the physical tension and anxiety symptoms I get. Now if only it was a more approved treatment for PTSD, though I realize just like any other drug/medication it wouldn't help everyone but it certainly does have potential.

I think I must have been lucky in recent years to have smoked only indica, because I no longer have the same, paranoid auditory hallucinations that I once did as a teenager, which caused me a great deal of unnecessary suffering and anxiety. I have known people who smoked a lot though, who were prone to aggression and became highly manipulative on it...though I also knew those who were like that and who didn't smoke, so...

Thanks for the information though.

In my partner's case (ptsd sufferer) I have noticed that in the short term it seems to be helpful for him to smoke a little at night, but after about a month to a month and a half he tends to end up very mixed up and stressed and it is obviously working against him at that point. I have felt this way about it for a while just from witnessing it, but he has finally decided for himself that it's not good for him any more and completely stopped, which is a relief (not because I have any issues with the use of it, just that it is counter productive in this case). As for strains we have had access to a lot of different types and it seems that no matter what he still ends up in a worse place after a month or two.

Very interesting. My husband baked some cookies with that special ingredient. He became to paranoid, I ended up taking him to the hospital. He had major hallucinations that people around him were saying things that they weren't. He was terrified that he would hurt someone. With the state he was in, I doubt he would have been able to hurt anyone.

I suppose that was the chemical mix? Perhaps it has something to do with how it was baked in cookies?

It can be very hard to know what the dosage is when you bake with it. It also takes longer for the effects to hit you and so people tend to eat more than they should thinking that the first brownie or cookie did nothing, when in fact it just hadn't taken effect yet. Also the effect from eating it is different and more physical I guess I would say, and if you aren't used to that it can very frightening especially if you eat too much.

Why is so much written about the "Evils of Pot"? It is one of the drugs just about anyone can grow for themselves in any part of the world. It does grow like a weed, hard to kill except with chemicals. As such, it can't be reliably taxed, hence the governments position that it must not be allowed to be legal. Any university, hospital, or agency that gets even a cent of money from the government has been explicitly told they will lose their funding if they endorse pot in any way. Many establishments are paid by the government to "study" pot, and the results had better be negative, or once again, no money from the government ever again.

As a teen, my favorite bud was RedBud and always had a good high. As a rule, I smoked whatever i could get, but in the end had to quit because of paranoia. I couldn't afford RedBud often so I'm sure it was Sativa that I was smoking most of the time. Then I joined the navy and haven't touched it since except last year when a person I know gave me a cupcake with "pot butter" on it (unknown to me, he thought he was doing me a favor). It had too much pot butter on it for me and I got way too high, for way longer than I was used to as a teen pot smoker. It was not a pleasurable experience. I don't know what type of pot was in it, didn't ask, spent a long time at home afterwards. We haven't talked about that day since.
