Winter Dip Encouragement

I think fixing the camera and then taking it outside once in a while (maybe you could set an idea, like once a week) is a great idea. Do you know how to fix it?
Well, I did locate the instruction manual, so that's a start. :-) If that doesn't work, I know someone I can go to for advice.

Thank you for the encouragement, everyone.

@sunseeker my digital camera had a glitch too and i didnt use it for a long time until I went to the company website and discovered a software upgrade which fixed it. Also you could try restoring factory defaults in your cameras memory if you havent already.

Could we start a photography thread somewhere on the forum? Possibly with a daily theme or just keep it open. Just an idea.

I can live with the cold as well. Although it isn't as cold as it used to be -I remember when I was a kid we used to go ice skating and everything would be white and frozen over. That seldom happens anymore. But I love it when it snows and dims all the sounds around.

I hate the dark, too. It makes me incredibly gloomy. I'm making it my mission next week to buy a new table lamp and put one of these daylight bulbs in it :) @gizmo I just applied for a job as well, it's a volunteer job but I'm hoping it will cheer me up. Hope you find one soon, keep us posted!

I've looked up some methods to beat a winter dip, there are your basics, like getting more light and exercise. One site recommends actually going outside two hours after you wake up even if it isn't sunny. That seems like a good one. Also to trying to eat healthy and taking supplements like already has been mentioned, vitamin D or saint Johnsworth tea.

It says to schedule some activities you can only do in winter, so that you will actually start to like the fact that it's winter. Maybe ice-skating indoors or outdoors. Or geocaching, although you can do that in the summer too.

I am warm and cozy and focusing on that comfort as it is rainy and cold and windy outside. I am keeping my mind and body occupied and it seems to be going well. I would like to have some simple acceptance of winter too. I am so weary of dreading winter. It is a season and we desperately need the rain. I will keep you posted on the job hunt as well. I have to finish getting dental work in my mouth done first.

How are you guys doing, @Lost214 any luck beating those negative thoughts?

I got a super sunny day yesterday, got up early and caught all the good sun vibes I could yet. Despite the full moon -which always influences me -feel better and more positive today. Got some St. Johnsworth tea too to help cheer me up.

I've been thinking about buying one of those light therapy lamps. They're pretty expensive but on the other side might really help. Do any of you have them?

Winter is a joke here at the moment though. It gets dark very early, (16:30) but it was the warmest beginning of November recorded.

It is sunny today and my spirits are lifted. I think the lamp is a fine idea. I imagine you could probably find one online.

I have to go to the store later on and it is warming up outside some. Good luck on finding the lamp.

I know what you mean about it getting dark so much earlier. I did better than I thought I would.

I am practicing gratitude for all of the positive things in my life right now and I need to develop some coping skills when I get depressed by the dreary days.

Huzzah, the darkest days of the year are gone! I used to have a smiley face back when MSN Messenger was still a thing.
It would run around in circles dancing. It would be appropriate here but sadly it's a thing of the past...

It's still pretty cold but I am looking forward to spring already. Hope you guys got through December all right.
I bought a lamp but not one of those therapy things though :) It's a round cylinder with laid in red and yellow pieces of glass. Gives off a very warm light.

I've been staying inside and inactive because of the extreme cold this week.
Tonight will be well below freezing again.

Today I cut Kindling to raise my heart rate and get some fresh air. Brrrr!:coldfeet: I just relit the Woodstove and am feeling less lethargic from the activity and air.

I am not sure if I will participate on a regular basis, but one thing I will suggest if finding something that really interest you that can be done inside; starting an indoor herbal garden for example, and doing that.
I, myself, enjoy cooking, so I read up on some recipes and start cooking different things, and also what I call kitchen sink cooking. I open the refrigerator, and the cupboards to see what we have and start grabbing stuff to experiment with.
I am making stuffed pork chops today, and I am employing my kitchen sink concept to the stuffing. It includes bacon, butter, onion, garlic celery, asparagus, dried cranberries, apple diced up, white wine and breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.

I have now learned a new English word: small twigs or sticks  Thank you, Google! I also enjoy cooking, @RussH , although I am not that creative. I still have a bunch of recipe books with a lot of pages I haven't checked out.

Those stuffed pork chops sound fantastic... yummy.
