You Might Be A Bit "old School" If...

Maybe y'all can help me out on what the proper name of this game was because I can only describe it:

(you might be old school if...)
you played with an electric and magnetized (U.S.) football field, placed your players on the field; then, turned it on to an awful rattling sound that made the players vibrate and move up or down the field...

I remember that but not the name...

I still have a vintage (1965) GI Joe.

How about you know you're old school if you raced home from school to see Dark Shadows, you remember the Mickey Mouse club original kids... and you laid on the living room floor with your family to watch Daniel Boone and The Rifleman.

I'm so glad, Albatross. I started playing around with memory-prompts like this precisely because they help me remember some of the smiles amidst the tears and scars.

When I first had the scariest break-through memories I over-generalized my anger and hate toward anything that reminded me of where I grew up. But so many good things were back there, too.

I adore the Smothers Brothers and saw a pbs documentary on them not long ago.

you could still accept home-made treats given out by neighbors during Trick-or-Treat, before parents had to empty all the trick-or-treat containers, looking for inserted needles, etc. (So, sad...) But, even, once that safety measure went into effect, I still managed to eat enough safe candy to cause some candy-dandy cavities.

Laugh In, the Flip Wilson Show, the Wide World of Sports...

Cap guns, zip guns, sling shots, Clackers (the home made ones with washers that would almost break your wrist until you got good at them)...

Yeah, there are some good memories in there. It wasn't all bad.

My favorite doll (and one of the first things I wrote about on my diary) was Little Miss No Name. They are rare and collector's items now... I loved her and my mom thought something was wrong with me.

...The Monkeys and HR Puffinstuff on TV! & Lost in Space & The Ed Sullivan Show & Laugh In!

I remember that magnetic game. Mine was I think of doll house with a little magnetic plastic family. my brother's was I think a soccer game.

And making creepy crawlers in the oven thingy with the goop that came in little squeeze bottles,

Thank you for this thread!

And when comic books were a dime or 3 for a Quarter!
