Sufferer I Have It All Together, Or So They Say.

I am very much in the public eye in a small town of population 617. I have struggled with PTSD and some other diagnoses' for over 30 years. While the rest of the community thinks I have it all together, in my quiet time; I often fall to pieces. Even my beloved husband does not know the depths of the struggle, as I do not like adding to his burdens. I fight in silence.

Welcome, I have also struggled with having an image of "being together" yet have often suffered in silence. Sometimes I think of how I present myself to the world and have told myself cynically, "if they only knew what I'm feeling inside". I have a couple of close friends who over time I've learned to express the depths of my pain though that being said, I still process a lot of stuff on my own - can totally relate. That's the one of the many harsh things about PTSD are the hidden injuries. Glad you're here and reaching out. It's true that speaking our truth can be liberating.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who feels the need to 'hold up in the public eye'. I have very few people who 'know' what I have endured and the subsequent affects that these things have had on my psyche. It is almost like to admit to them and the damage they have caused would be to make everything else in my life null and void.
