For some reason it seems to get really trendy for docs to script antihistamines like benadryl for anxiety to help you sleep. I wake up with anxiety frequently and take a benadryl before bed sometimes. Ambien also tends increase anxiety levels which I have been on a long time and can mostly deal with. I think its a load of crock about how much some doctors start prescribing antihistamines to replace a dose of what was or should have been/be an actual...benzodiazepine, basically. And I used to have an epileptic reaction to ZzQuil. And sort of benadryl but it stopped. That and I have actual allergies and I'll have a whole lot more anxiety if I cannot breathe. I can take NyQuil, I just still am not sure about ZzQuil. So, just a friendly reminder about over the counter medications to help you sleep, and any medication, be careful, and don't be afraid to call through an emergency line for medical assistance if you feel you are having an adverse reaction.
