Rolling Update Changes - End 01 May 2017

This my first time trying to navigate the changes and while I am not afraid to try new looks, my first impression of the site is overall unfriendly. No personality.

The first thing being the lack of any color. It removes the friendly feeling of the site.
The second - while being anonymous is important to some, having a choice is also equally important for those of us who are in the process of healing from that.

I realize these change are not negotiable. Most will adapt, but change like this is very threatening to many who have made this site a home away from home.

-I have absolutely NO IDEA what any of that stuff you posted means due to my inability to learn the new mode & endless terms of the tech community. I don't own a smart phone & never will due to the harsh energy it emits into my hands & arms.
-I will continue to read & post as long as I can access this website & I very much enjoy hearing from others who are living with, struggling with & enjoying their PTSD lives.
-Some of those avatar photos freak me out because one in particular looks a lot like my attacker & I just cannot deal with looking at him. I know it's not really him...buy my memory finds it hard to forget a face.
-So, I will just say THANK YOU for having this website & allowing people like me to learn we are not alone in our inner turmoil.:D

Last question and then I'll leave it alone.

The avatars that are currently set are really light grey on white and killing my eyes. Is it possible to have the blue person or color in the female/male person so it's not so much white?

I'm honestly super used to change but trying to find the best way to use the site now and as a dyslexic I am having to stare at the screen way longer and I am not able to as it hurts my eyes. So honestly not trying to complain.

@lostforgottensoul - the sidebar with the member info is going to take a bit of time to work out. There are other things with the immediate functioning of the site that take priority right now. I understand what you are saying about the white space - but until the entire roll-out is completed, please have some patience.

I could live without the avatars and the info. Found that instead of the post title often would scan for familiar. Like going to a book store and only going for the usual. I like the thrift store approach. Have to sort and sift, often finding things that I would not have if all were alpha and had covers ; 0. No labels for that instant recognition. Yeah, no grey bathroom grey boxes. None, or personal. IMHO.

I meant the list of threads in a certian area. It's all white and it's super hard on the eyes.

I never go sideways with my phone so I see less then one that does or may see in a tablet so I am not sure if I was describing the issue correctly or if we were talking about the same thing. If so, then cool. I'm patient but its making it so I can't use the forums as I can't look at it more then a few mins if not in a thread. Even if the blue avitar guy was back that would make it easier.

I know you will never make everyone happy. Was just a thought I thought I would throw out there.

@lostforgottensoul - just to throw this out there, I have used a couple of 3rd party apps over the years on android and iphones that will change the white space on a page to a desired color so that it's softer and easier to read. Night mode, an option built into many phone and laptops, also will soften the screen. When my phone is in night mode, I read black text on a soft yellow screen here instead of black on white. Perhaps this might be a temporary solution and make this site (and others) easier to read for you? Just a thought.

Thanks @Justmehere, I had one app, Twilight, but had to uninstall it as it caused issues with hitting buttons on sites but will try night mode and other apps.

@anthony since avatars are a thing of the past perhaps it would be more useful and easier on everyone to eliminate even the generic avatars. I would have liked to keep the personal avatars but quite honestly the three generic avatars are not attractive and I think more of a distraction now than anything else.

@lostforgottensoul im not sure what device you use but for iPhone there's an option to invert colour that I use.

Android. Using the Android stock browser which has little options but due to that seems to work the best on the net. Will see what Chrome has for options.

I agree. If possible, it would be easier to have just the user name listed. Not like in a box like it shows up on my phone as that makes the user name super hard to read. So just the user name there. But not sure if its possible with the technology used for the site.

I still think site chosen avitars would be way easier, but again, not sure of the technology behind the site.

Oh, important. Where's the donation status bar? It's not at the bottom anymore. I'm not rushing. Was wondering if we hit our April target.

ETA: Found it but if you can put it back on the bottom I think that would attract more donors.
