Hello,
Thanks for your replies. I think the £40-£50 per session mark is doable, and might be worth it if they can do out of hours sessions so I won't have to miss work. But I will speak to my GP first and try to arrange something. Ideally I would love to find an NHS service near to my work so I can have the sessions without missing any time, but I think that is unlikely to happen any time soon!
I have my GP appointment this evening. Wish me luck!

Hey!

So I saw the doctor yesterday. I actually got a bit teary, and struggled to get through the appointment. She has given me some tablets to help me sleep, and referred me to a counselling service.

I have been very anxious and panicky today, I think the thought of sitting down and properly talking about what I saw is a scary prospect, but I know it needs to be done.

Hi @Eliza, welcome to the site. I am sorry to hear what you are going through and really applaud your strength in seeking support.

I see an NHS therapist, I work in London but live in Sussex so getting the right appointment time was really vital for me because of work and my commute, for a long time it deterred me from referring assuming it would be a problem. However, from my experience they have been really accommodating. I have my appointments at 8am, so although it still makes me get in a little later than normal it is workable for me. I had to wait a little longer for the slot but they were really helpful in getting something that would work for me. My understanding is you will be seen by the trust in which you live, I hope they are able to offer something that works for you.

Also look into local charity organisations, where I live there are some support groups that run in the evenings. Maybe there is something similar where you are.

Keep reaching out, keep talking, it will get better.

I think everyone wonders how they would react in these situations..it seems nature hard wires us to do so and none is right or wrong I have this theory the runners are the ones who have to raise the alarm I think a lot of peoples lifes are saved by seeing people running away from danger and obviously many follow suit. the people who stay are the ones who get things under control.

I am attending group therapy today in harely street at Khiron house which is a trauma clinic. I really hear you about trying to find cost effective treatment...I have been practicing yoga for trauma . I am going to a yoga retreat in northern Ireland in September which is yoga for trauma. let me know if you would like more information.
