Terror In Australia

Well in case you have not heard, yesterday morning a self proclaimed Sheikh held a coffee shop full of people here in Sydney Australia as hostages. He was wearing a headband with Arabic writing on it and made the hostages hold up an ISIS flag or equivalent. He only chose that place because it was in the centre of Sydney and right across from the TV studio.

Over 10 managed to escape, then around 2 am local time, five more made a dash for it. The terrorist became more agitated and then shot one of the hostages. The SOG boys immediately entered and took him down.

Two hostages KIA, two WIA, and a SOG boy with a graze on the cheek.

The terrorist was a lone wolf and achieved his goal. He stopped the centre of Sydney and had his acts televised for the world to see.

RIP to those gone and I wish all the help in the world to those who survived it.

It's a terrible thing when people you took in, cared for, turn against your country.
It's so much harder to know an enemy can be sat next to you on the train.
My sympathy to those that feel even less secure and the families of those affected by this event.

I was reading the two deaths weren't the guy shooting them intentionally... one was someone who tried to get the gun off of them as he was falling asleep and got shot in the process, accidentally more than anything, the other was a lady who had a heart attack when the guy got shot and subsequently the police entered and started shooting.

All sounds like just a nut job wanting some attention, but the news media completely blew it out of proportion claiming terrorism.

Sadly, it's everywhere. A guy in my area, an Iraqi Vet, having custody problems; killed his ex, her kids, family, ect. He's still out there. It's all I hear about and read about. It's happen down the street now. What the f*ck happened to this world? I don't know whether to be mad, scared or sad. Maybe all. I'm getting to old for this shit.

IMHO, what has happened to this world is technology. We see it all time were people sitting at a table together will talk with each other on a phone instead of looking each other in the face. People are scared to help, cause they may get sued. Its easier to watch it on TV then to walk outside and stop an act.

How many times have we heard were a veteran loses it, but we never hear we a veteran goes out of his way and into harms way to help a neighbor. Link Removed

What's wrong with society is media. Lets role back the clock where the media had an hour a night to feed us the true news and the stories will get stronger and better. But wait, we can't wait for anything any more.....instant gratification society.

I will mourn the victims and keep the ones close to my heart that will stand up in adversity and help their fellow man. I refuse to mourn for the individual that started this, I will actually celebrate his death. I am happy it is over, and I am happy he is with us no more.

But it's our fear that these nut jobs want. And the fire is fanned by the media. The media doesn't cover stories of "ordinary" murder, but if a foreign flag is waved, much like our race card, it pours out of the blue tube. I've been on a mission to turn off the news and live my life without fear. The odds of me getting murdered by one of these loons is astronomical.
