@KwanYingirl I have looked into the laws regarding hostile workplace in my state. It only applies if you can prove discrimination. As the first female to lead the organization it could be seen that the board of directors treats me differently than they would a man but the case would be very hard to prove as their have only been two previous executives in my position in the last 35 years and the members of the board have almost entirely turned over from when I was hired. Difficult to prove the discrimination but believe me that is one of the questions that will be asked of my attorney. To my knowledge a subordinate employee went out of disability a week prior to my leave and has not returned (return date is unknown as he has cancer) but from what I can tell in discussions with the employees when I stop in to drop off paperwork there are no plans to do anything of the sort. Sounds like gender and disability discrimination to me but I am not the attorney that gets paid the major bucks.

I think you should focus on stabilization until you are in a better place where you are secure enough to dive into deeper trauma work.

I think it will be very difficult if not impossible to close Pandora’s box.

I think that efforts to do so will just result in what I call “things coming out sideways”... That is, you’ll try to stuff it down, but it will find a way “out” regardless, and in the craziest kind of way.

So I met with the attorney this afternoon and for a small fortune he is willing to take my case. The goal is to get them to honor my severance agreement and quietly come to terms with separating. However, I have to return to work next week and in his words not give them grounds to terminate me in the mean time. So now I have the privilege of returning to the toxic lions den for god only knows how long. I also had to agree not to injure myself during the course of the process. Lovely, now lawyers believe they are mental health professionals.

I had this happen this year. You can be protected under the law if you have a disability. There is an ADA accommodation to remove a supervisor if he/ she triggers your PTSD symptoms/anxiety. I got the accommodation because boss was harrassing/ bullying me. If you have shared this info about his bullying with your therapist, she/ he can fill out the ADA accommodation form note your statements in therapy you have said about the boss-on the form. I even requested the supervisor and was approved!
It is so much better!

@miamarie I appreciate the feedback, however filing an accommodation for a new supervisor will not work. I am despite my PTSD the Chief Executive Officer of the organization and report directly to a board of directors. The only way what I can get a new supervisor is to change my job. I have seven bosses not one like most so without a major miracle this is what I get for now.

I'm hearing you. Exec team here. Specialist role to the extreme. I have a great CEO and it's only because my knowledge is needed that I can work part-time. I'd love to toss it in sometimes as much as I really enjoy it. Just the all out exhaustion of managing people and a rapidly growing company. I barely have enough energy for myself.
