Some native American traditions hold the belief that there are 9 different totem animals that will accompany one throughout their life.

My birth totem is Wolf. My family totem is Leopard. My spirit guide is Raven. My Power totem is Lion. My spirit totem is Dolphin. My clan animal is Frog. There are a few others that act as guides such as red-tail Hawk that come in and out of my life depending on the direction I am going in my life.

Animals that appear in ones life may hold a message for them and so I recommend reading the book "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews, it is full of information on power animals / totems, animal spirits etc. and the "power", or lessons, they impart.

Ordering it today!!! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm so much more comfortable in the animal world than the human one...It is peaceful. But special animals do make me feel better, safer, more secure. I dunno why.

I raised a baby crow once. It was an awesome experience. It became attached...and pooped everywhere on...
That's a really cute story. It's sad that that it ended but it belonged with the other crows. Who knows? Maybe it will visit you someday for a time because it will remember you. That sort of thing has happened before and not just with corvids. I've read about it.
I watched a documentary about crows and they and ravens have the intelligence of a two to three year old child. It was really cool. They had the crow do tests where they had to pick the right length of stick to get some berries and stuff. The scientists also had a man put on mask a few times and make loud noises at a family of crows living around a park. 6 months later those crows recognized that same masked guy as a threat.

It was interesting. This past Christmas, I drove to Iowa to visit with cousins. There was a red-tailed hawk along the fences periodically. Anyway, it felt like they accompanied me on my trip.....so many. Then I ended up at Redrock Dam, IA , and the eagles were everywhere-apparently they nest there!

I would be an awestruck child seeing Eagles. One of the meditations I do, is about being in the mountains with Eagles flying. They are so majestic. Maybe one day I will get to experience this for myself.

I forgot some of the most important ones I've discovered in the last 3 years that I never thought of before, I guess because I usually only see them being contained by humans, so it didn't click as them being "in the wild", but some of my most powerful guides now are also the lambs, the cows, the pigs, the chickens, the seafood, and all the other beings violently/blindly/traditionally used by humans as their main dishes and sides. Blessed be all that is we. May the animals forgive us.

Animal Speak is a great book! Good suggestion, @Lionheart777 .
