What languages can you speak?

My husband was from Argentina so I learned a fair bit of Spanish. I also took four years of it in school, but that did not teach me as much of it as living with his 2 sisters for 6 months did! None the less, I speak more than I can write and I understand far more of it by listening to it than I can speak.

That's cool! :)
What sort of stuff do you do with it, or what would you like to do with it? Like care...

I got mine a long time ago and worked in Export for awhile, but have never really done anything specific with it. I went on to get a Master's in Creative Writing - I'm in the middle of about 100 projects LOL, but I have had some stuff published.

The BA was sort of a compromise. I have an AS in nursing and I wanted to go back to school for zoology (my first love/passion), but could not find an affordable school that didn't require dissection or vivisection and that was non-negotiable. I ended up in International Studies because it was the "least worse" degree I could find.

I focused heavily on US foreign policy and so I do keep up on everything and write occasionally about stuff in my blog.

English and currently learning Spanish, although I heard/learned some Spanish growing up. Learned German from ages 11-16 and got pretty good at it, but I've forgotten it all.

I also know a few phrases and vocab of Nahuatl, but nothing conversational.

French fairly well, and then - because for a year or two I used language learning apps to help control my outta control anxiety and because I'm curious I know odd bits and pieces of quite a few languages.

I wouldn't say the language learning apps have helped me to learn to speak those languages at all much. Rather I have learned how to do the app, and say things like "The fly is drinking milk and eating potatoes." In the following languages - in ascending order from knowing quite a bit to only just having begun

Brazilian Portuguese
German
Welsh
Russian
Polish
Spanish
Italian
Japanese
Irish
Swedish
Turkish
Chinese
Dutch
Hebrew
Swahili
Hungarian
Romanian
Greek

I hope one day to actually learn how to speak a bit more of a fair few different languages - as others have said living tge language is the best way and I don't see me living anywhere else in the forsee-able.

My native languages are Russian and Ukrainian, and a bit of French. As for English- well it is a "native language" of my PTSD .
