Hong Kong, Singapore & China are finding that when they relax the lockdowns the infection rate climbs again

Do you have a source or is this mere assumption?

And of course this isn’t over - many epidemiologists think this is gonna become endemic. I.e. seasonal recurring. Like the flu or common cold. Let’s just hope we’ll have treatments and maybe even a vaccine in the near and not distant future.

Because...frankly.... you can’t keep these kind of restrictions for a long time. Not only economically speaking, but a whole lotta dangerous on a political-sociologic level. Because... the majority of countries aren’t authoritarian regimes like China.

^That's what a lot of the 20 something people are saying here. The same people who find it impossible to do the social distancing or self-isolating huh?? But now they're confused because they didn't know it applied to them too?? Or, they're still, 'in denial'. Pathetic little generation happening there.

Please be careful with such statements. The 20 something generation has gotten a lot of coverage - at least in the US - because of spring break and because they (some of them, anyway) can be quoted saying things like “I don’t care if I get it, I’m not high risk”. However, there’s a whole lotta observation bias going on and folks of ALL generations have been ignoring the advices and orders all over the world. It’s not a “blame one” situation.

We are going into statewide 7 day lockdown non essential tomorrow at noon. I'm not happy about this. But not happy is a long way from upset and even further from panic. I don't plan to panic I don't care what happens. I want to go through it in as level headed a manner as I'm capeable of doing. I have a women/handicapped persons here. They need me to be calm.

I think we will be able to continue to take our walks outside so movement won't be completely curtailed (yet).

I think generationally young people have a slight advantage- the compatibility with the digital age. Some young people effectively self isolate by choice anyway- I remember reading an article about it becoming a problem among a subsection in community in Japan . And a dear friend two university age sons are happy infront if their computers and laugh while talking to each other while in the same house - much like we do here- occasionally they will vocalise a response and that’s more unusual for them. While I think they are extreme - they are an example of what is ‘normal’ that wasn’t normL to those of us growing up without technology . I wonder , for example, how well I would self isolate during PTSD without it.

I definitely think this is much harder on my parents than on DH and I

I hope it works ?. We are eating to hear what happens here in a few minutes and I am hoping for lock down. I had rather hoped people could be sensible and calm and abide by guidelines - but they aren’t- so I think there should be a lockdown instead. I sense myself swinging politically because of how people have responded to this . :(.

Yes! Three weeks lockdown. Essential travel only , police enforcement

Michigan:
15 deaths.
1,300 confirmed cases.

We are officially on "shelter in place" restrictions. My plant was laid off today until the 14th of April. This is horrible! Our economy is going to go right in the crapper.

The National Guard was activated on Saturday to help with resources and medical aid.

J is able to keep working as his position is essential. He's safe and they only have a skeleton crew working now.

Our fridge and pantry are stocked and I took a industrial roll of TP from work. (Shh don't tell them ?)

I guess I'll be spring cleaning and tackling a few projects around here for a few weeks.

Stay safe!

UK in lockdown. Bout bloody time too.

I’m very cool with this . We have loads to get on with . And in fact - it’s exactly what we have been doing since being asked to! And - not so different from how I live with PTSD ?.

Slight annoyances have come up over the weekend that on lists of chores to get on with we are missing one essential component for lots of things on our to do lists but we just shrug and move on. Going shopping for them was not ‘essential’ so we didn’t.

I’m also relieved on another note - my father is away and it means he CANNOT return home during the lockdown.

About 1,1 K confirmed cases here too.
1 death.

Restrictions so far the same as the last week, in-state people can and do move about provided they keep to protective measures, and what I'm hearing from various cities people are average pretty peaceful and more solidaire (sp in Eng?) than normal.

Med supply situation with a few essential meds worries me a bit, tho.
