So me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and been friends for a about two year before hand, he’s a veteran that’s served in Iraq and and has pretty back anxiety, depression and PTDS. Things have been been amazing between us however he disappeared on me the last thing he said to me was “ goodnight I love you” on Tuesday night and now it’s Saturday and I haven’t heard a peep from him he’s actually blocked me. But he hasn’t just blocked me he blocked his best friends too. We’ve never had any issues in the relationship and we have very open communication which is why I’m so surprised cause he normally just tells me when he’s struggling but this time he just dropped off the face of the Earth and no one can reach him. Could this be his PTSD?

I can never stay mad at him, but I’ll definitely need to seriously talk to him cause I understand his trauma but this is triggering my own trauma and I can’t do this again. I’m not strong enough to do this again
Is anyone strong enough to do that? This would surely test every single person?
I'm sorry you are going through this.
I hope for your, his and everyone's sake he turns up soon, apologies and finds a more healthy way to manage his situation.

When was the last time you saw him in person? When were your next plans to meet up?

What actions are his friends taking to search for him? Are you in contact with any family members? What do they think?

I’m so sorry you are experiencing this . ♥️.

He was supposed to be coming to the U.K. either the end of this month or next.

He doesn’t have any family he’s was adopted but has had zero contact with his adoptive family since he left for the military.

His best friend has been calling hospitals, local jails and morgues just in case. But other than that there’s not much we can do

I’m trying to stay positive but I don’t really know how to be positive when my brain is flooded with a million thoughts and most of the bad.

Was this the first time you two were to be meeting in person?

If so he’s almost undoubtedly totally fine, just doing a runner, because things just got real.

It’s a PTSD quirk : No faster way to kill a relationship than everything going so well it moves onto the next level. Any next level. From a second date to saying vows.

It’s more likely to end immediately after the next step (up to and including marriage/kids; get married & bolt, or kid is born & bolt), than right before, but people get weird about travel.

If it’s not the first time you’ve met IRL, no idea what’s going on with him. But if it is the first time it’s just like… oh. Yep. That would do it.

If he had just blocked me then I’d be like okay I guess we’re over, but he’s blocked everyone in his life. That’s why it’s so strange.

That can be how things go. Shame , black and white outlooks from the actions, avoidance- those of us with PTSD can go to ground. It’s obviously awful behaviour and I am not justifying it - but I don’t think it’s that ‘atypical’ either.

Again, I’m truly sorry you are experiencing this.
