Amethist, your advice is amazing. I love the Thyme and Patchouli in the bath is amazing and I now carry lemon oil everywhere with me.

Question, and it sounds a bit daft but here goes:

When I go hiking I have a tendency to get hot spots and/or blisters. Can you recommend anything to soak my feet in?

I've used rose, camomile, lavender as foot and hand soak and massage for children with SEN. Really calming, for staff too! Lavender is great for head massage and headaches.

Any thoughts on oils to get rid of negativity?

Amazing and interesting! I made a list to let my love read about this and I took out my last souvenir from Bali with several different oils, such as lavender and sandalwood - and already lighted the candle ;) I will try the pillow effect, and hopefully it will help will the bad dreams. Any idea if orange scent has the same effect as the lemon? Thanks !

The orange should do the same, plus you could try the Mandarin as well. The citrus ones are all good for being uplifting.

To get rid of negativity really depends on what you like. But the citrus again, plus Patchouli, Pine are all feel good oils.

But if you mean depression rather than negativity, the following post may give you some ideas, though there is many more which could help.

Then you need to burn some White sage, sage oil or incense sticks Belle. Or open ALL your windows and doors for 5 mins and let the fresh air blow through, that is one of the ways it is done.

I know it is cold, but you will be amazed at the difference it can make to your home atmosphere. Clearing the negative energy out.

A bit of white majic there for you Belle. ;)

Sage essential oil, burned in an oil burner, or dried white sage leaves, specially for cleansing rooms.

I can explain how its done if you would like later.

Thanks amethist, I tried for now the pillow ;), he could fall asleep easily but still woke up way too early and could not get back.

I found also Ylang Ylang massage oil I have home from holiday, so hopefully this might support the deepness of the sleep a bit. And for us its not depression, but more the negativity during the day.

What an awesome and helpful thread, thank you Amethist and everyone else! For those looking for a safer alternative to the oil warming candle-holder things, I picked one up that's more like a night light, electric, with a little glass dish above the low-watt lightbulb. Still not safe to let it go dry, but there's less of a fire risk.

This is a really great thread. I plan to read it all.

I just wanted to add (if it's ok) that my favorite at the moment is peppermint oil. I have tension headaches, and I rub it on the back of my head and neck and shoulders...it helps ease the pain. I also rub it on my tummy when having GI pains.

Lavendar is one of my favorites for relaxing as well as Neroli. Lavendar also helps with pain.

I have ulcerative colitis so I will give peppermint a try.

Peppermint is also good added to a spray bottle of water and lightly sprayed on neck. Lovely and cooling on a hot day.

Just remember to do a test area first.
