Holes In Short-term Memory

I hope I'm posting this thread in the right forum. If not, I apologize.

Over the past six months I have noticed an increase in the amount of times that I seem to lose memory for a short period of time.

For example, a little while ago I was going to have a tv dinner with my parents. I got a bowl and walked towards the table, where my dad was already laying out cutlery. Then I looked at my bowl and saw there was a spoon in there. But I had absolutely no recollection of how it got there. I counted the amount of spoons on the table and there wasn't one missing, so I myself must have put the spoon in my bowl a few moments earlier.

Or sometimes I get home, put down my bags and plan to use the restroom, but then who knows how much later I find myself sitting on my bed with no clue as to when or how I got there.

Does anyone recognize this kind of "holes" in their memory? Do you think it's a form of dissociation?

This why I can't bake and seems to happen more when my stress levels are extra high. From what I understand it is a dissociative thing. I'm getting better at being aware of when I have dissociated, but it's a very uncomfortable feeling. I just go completely blank.

I swear that happens one out of three seconds throughout the day! There is almost as much that I do remember as as much as I don't - although if there's more stuff I've forgotten to push the count higher, I wouldn't always know. It's tricky and confusing. I seem to laugh it off a fair amount of the time, but it is very frustrating and can be upsetting too. It's definitely dissociative in my opinion.

I'm like Kas. There is a lot of it. It is way better than it was though I have to say. It was days before and that hasn't happened in a while.

a symptom of a disorder I have. And NOT a quality of my personality.
It was quite nice to discover this a few years ago around age 41 after thinking it was my hopeless stupidity (with families help of course) for my whole life.
