MVA Waking Up From Accident And Chondritis??

I was in a car accident in which I remember hearing the impact, but didn't/don't remember seeing it. All I remember is waking up and being in a dream-like state. I don't really want to go into the accident itself, but I feel like this is a start. I believe I ended up getting Costochondritis from the seat-belt and the airbag, since talking about this is actually causing it to flare up a bit. I was diagnosed with this just a few months ago (car accident was 4 years ago).

Does anyone else remember waking up from an incident, and then slowly start remembering bits and parts later on? And also where you diagnosed with Costochondritis (Chest wall pain due to the cartilage connecting the rib and the sternum inflaming)?

Thanks!

I have never been diagnosed with that, however I have experienced slowly putting together bits and pieces of events that happened long ago. Many times it happens out of nowhere and really screws with my emotions as I process the event.

Short grade amnesia is common with accident victims. When I had my accident and remembered nothing.
Some memories began to return but not all of them
As for the costachronditis I would be surprised if it was related to the accident after 4 years, but tour Dr should be able to answer your question

Recalling memories of a traumatic fact after time passes is very common.

Also, in regards to your question about costachronditis, I have a question for you. Have you ever heard of body memories? I hurt my shoulder in a car accident, but not in a way that should last. However, whenever I get scared in the car or have memories of the accident or talk about the accident, the same pain returns in my shoulder. Sometimes I think I must have really hurt it, but they took x-rays and the pain subsides when I am not talking about the accident and such. I only mention this because you said writing about the accident was causing a flair up, which reminds me of my body memories. My body holds the memory of the trauma and this is very common, too.

That's my problem right now; had PTSD, lost a lot of family at once, was struggling with the grief and it igniting PTSD, was in excruciating pain from several herniated and bulging discs. The doctors didn't believe that I was as hurt as I was and I didn't have appropriate pain meds until after the surgery which revealed I should have been paralyzed. Then they couldn't give me enough pain meds. I started to get better but after weed wacking one day the excruciating pain came back. I believe now I was anxious and fearful of that which ignited the physical symptoms- the fear became symptoms but we're not caused by anything physical. Didn't know that could happen. Going to a counselor soon to figure it out but saying this because it could be similar to what others have I now keep telling myself it's not real pain and practice breathing. Still a work in progress. Hope it helps

Ps I have had that costochondroitis from an attack where a man broke into my house while I was sleeping, we fought and I got hurt bad in the ribs, pelvis and spine by hitting the floor hard in the fight. He tried to rape and kill me but I got away and he's in jail for a long time and kicked out of the country. Angels helped me get his beeper and my cat got hair on him. It's painful but a Physical therapist can help and it may be a body memory or even anxiety maybe.

I was in a terrible car accident less than 2 weeks ago with my little girl. My ribs are in terrible pain right now. I had a lot of pain in my ribs several months ago as well and it lasted several weeks. I was told it was likely costochondritis. It gradually subsided but it lasted a while. I remember seeing the grill of the truck hit me and a sound like a freight train and the vehicle being lifted and thumping on the ground. I do not remember the impact of hitting the pole. I think I remember most of my accident and maybe it was perhaps my need to take care of my daughter. I just don't remember the last seconds of impact. I wish you well. I found shoving pillows all around me helped me with getting comfortable at night. I was told that a major accident will have a lasting impact on your life. I was also told that injuries can show up months or years later after a car accident.

I had a two year old shattered tooth that has been infected and needed a root canal. The ER doctor that diagnosed me gave me that as a possibility, if not the accident, of where I got the chondritis.

@JEKBreatheandBelieve and @Kailani I've started to take notice when I get too stressed or anxious, it will start to ache badly, despite taking my daily naproxen for it. Ice, heat, and baths with Epson salt will help, as will as Tylenol extra strength. I also do EMF.

@MomOfTwo I'm so sorry for your recent traumatic experience. I hope you and your daughter are recovering well!! I already sleep with a bunch of pillows, but maybe if I adjust them around me I'll do better when I get my night pains.

In regards to memory of my accident, I suffered a mild concussion, but recently when I get my flashbacks, they're not as vivid and seem foggy to me. I don't remember any of what I'm seeing, but it sort of makes sense, but there are still a lot of blanks too. Can this be possible even though I had a mild concussion?? Or is my brain filling it in?
