You know what frustrates me about this type of news article and media scrutiny? They focus on her mental health rather than the veracity of her evidence, her courage to face her accuser, her ability to not only survive but apparently thrive beyond her abuse and her ability to be a high functioning member of the community evidenced by her tertiary education qualifications. Her aspirations to travel beyond her immediate environment.

And also her tenacity to see the whole Court process through to it's natural conclusion. After all, she wasn't to know that he would instruct his defence to fold at the stage they did. She was apparently prepared to go the distance and obviously impressed the prosecution enough to convince them that she could do that. These days a prosecution will not proceed if there is any obvious flaws in the ability of witnesses to give their evidence. She got past that post.

Why don't the media see the very big challenges she has overcome and celebrate her courage rather than focusing on her mental health issues. It reeks of the freak side-show to me. That's sad but nonetheless not surprising given the standards news media and journalism are at these days.

Or, if they couldn't reach that bar. Maybe they could have focused on his penalty and how it's a decent one given the nature of his crime and his victim. Surely that would have been a better topic to focus on.

But anyway...

The Daily Mail is the biggest pile of wank excuse for a newspaper in the UK. It's so bad, I call my inner critic the Daily Mail to take away it's power and ridicule it.

I managed to see the episode of 60 minutes shown in Australia, and it does everything you wish the media would do. It was a fantastic celebration of her strength and ingenuity ♡
