Coming PTSD Wiki.
I have been reviewing this option for some time, in an effort to try and truly categorise PTSD related information into some tangible structure that can actually be followed easily, updated by a group of individuals, yet read by all. So a wiki seems to be the more logical solution, one that is not limited to something like the article system that exists now, and instead is maintained by a group of people here at any given time, and simply there are no limits to the sheer number of topics that can be created, yet remain organised and searchable quickly.
A wiki is what you want it to be... but primarily they are used to express specific topics individually, without having to get into cross topics and mixing them together for a total explanation, say like an article does, but instead key words and phrases are linked to their appropriate topic.
The aim of this project is to basically build what you could refer to as an online book of sorts. Topics, subjects, etc, come and go in threads, and get lost into the abyss of knowledge and information shared onto a site like this. There are points made in posts that really make an impact by themself, but get lost in the sheer gorge of information.
You could ask, doesn't this already exist from wikipedia? Well... no. Wikipedia is more concerned over saying things as complicated as possible, and a subject typically has little experience behind it vs. theoretical knowledge. This sites wikipedia will be built based on both theory and experience, thus over the years building a searchable repository answering everything there is on anything PTSD based or related.
It won't merely be an anyone who wants to help type project, because what is needed is a base of knowledge, a base of those who have the capacity and willingness to read and learn about specific subjects, those who have editing skills to edit people like myself, who whilst can write, cannot write to the degree of say a book requires, which is what I would like the forum wiki to resemble.
So you can see... the group will need to be broad base and each person really will need to bring something unique into the group in order to build the wiki over the coming years. Some may have a speciality knowledge of naturopathy, acupuncture, herbal remedies, pharmacology, biology, etc, all specific and only targeted to the key areas of PTSD.
Overall, I believe it will be a better way, more longevity, on how to get pertinent information across to help those with PTSD heal trauma and recover some normality to life. It will comprise specific and generalized topics... so it should be interesting. It will be a way for those with writing skills to really digress the information they have, own it, put it down in writing and allow others to edit, add-to, manipulate it and expand upon it, and more.
