((((Ayesha))))

Please recognize that those were her actions. People responded the way they did, and yes that's terrible, but she was the one who killed herself.

We're not responsible for anybody else's actions but our own. If she needed help, she should have reached out directly to a mental health professional.

(I hope I made myself clear. My head hurts now.)

(((Ayesha)))

I hope the school also is going to make counselling available. Seems like it would be needed at a time like this.

(((Ayesha))), this is the third suicide I've heard of today.

We cannot be responsible for others actions. Personally, although I know they must be in a terrible mental place, I think it is a selfish act, I feel so very sorry for those left behind and for the emergency services who cope with the immediate aftermath.

I feel lucky as well that although I wished I hadn't survived, I never contemplated taking my life.

Take care of yourself, especially today.

I suppose it is selfish, to an extent, though when I...uh...well, I genuinely believed it was what was best for everyone. I desperately wanted to go on living but felt duty bound to...uh. Anyway, in my line of work, we get this sort of thing all the time- the aftermath, I mean- and I felt that my removal from the world would be more than adequate compensation for what the guys would go through.

I...hmm.

I say:
You are a part of life, a chapter in civilization and you are here for a reason. People who go too quick did not have time or opportunity to realize this. Even if one person or thing has benefited from you being here then that is worth embracing as a good thing. :)

Hugs
Saffy

If someone tells you they're suicidal, the only responsible reaction is to take them seriously and make it clear that they need to get professional help. The people who failed to do so in the case of that student behaved irresponsibly.

And yes, she did the deed, but everybody else created the social environment in which she saw no other way to ease her suffering but to end her life. Also, I highly doubt that the people who now grieve for her would have wanted her to suffer on so terribly, just so that they don't have to grieve now.

A life belongs to the person who's living it, and they get to decide if they want it or not, they get to judge which pain they are willing to take and for how long, and if they just can't go on anymore, they are perfectly within their right to be so selfish to not endure another black, soulcrushing day without hope and light.

Depression is a battle and some don't make it. Honour the fallen ones. They gave it their all.

Honour the fallen ones. They gave it their all.

That's what I feel like some days when I feel I'm just not coping......unfortunately I know that anyone left behind won't feel that way, so I must continue on to further their education!:O_o::notworthy:

As much as I agree with you freakofnurture, I sadly wish that it wasn't the case.

Regardless as to people's 'right' to end it, I think the only thing that matters here is the fact that the poor darling was in that bad a place that when no one stopped her, she seriously went ahead, indicating just how bleak things had been for so long.

As someone who suffers from suicidal tendancies/thoughts, I can tell you that when there are no more coping mechanisms, you blindly reach out, wanting more coping mechanisms from other people to get you through, but if no one comes to your aid, it is often what pushes you over the edge and confirms that there really is 'no' more coping mechanisms to be had, firming your resolve to find eternal rest.

I guess what we can all take from here is that the waste of life which occurred today will hopefully propel those of us more responsible and empathetic to provide that small bridge of coping mechanism for someone in a similar situation should we be blessed enough to be presented with the opportunity to make a difference.

(((Ayesha))) I am so sorry this happened. I can only imagine the impact that this story made on you.
I do hope the school makes counseling available. I am so sad for the surviving members of her family. She did it in a public place and we do not know why.

This is so hard and tragic. I hate this when it happens. Those that suceed at killing themselves have a peace about it and no one can change their mind. It has a ripple effect and touches so many lives. I am affected by this story.

I hope you are ok. I am here for support. Pm me if you need to. I am available to listen. My heart goes out to you and all of the people involved.

(((Ayesha))) I'm sorry to hear that. Even if you didn't know her personally, it's always hard to hear about a suicide, and even more difficult when there's a connection like school and when it happens in a place you frequently go. You've got lots of people here to support you, so don't be afraid to ask us to talk. I'm here too :)

My heart definitely goes out to her friends and family, and I'm sad that no one took her seriously. As someone who has lost friends that way who didn't let anyone know what they were thinking... I can't imagine not acting if any of them had said something. Even if I didn't think they were totally serious, it would have tipped me off that they needed support.

There's an incredibly fine line between acknowledging that depression causes suicidal ideation and acknowleding that a person is the owner of their own life at all times.

And you can't walk that line without knowing what a person's wishes are in a calm, non-suicidal, non-manic, sober, fully awake, reflective, honest, trusting moment.
