Yea I don't remember it being that way previously. That's the thing.

We always take in battered abused GSDs. Often from Spain where the animals are generally not treated too well.
People are afraid of GSDs with a past cos they don't know when they'll lash out. Having grown up with them they are the only breed of dog I can understand on that level.
Besides giving them a new chance in life, they have been my rescue.

Focus on their needs.
Not make sudden movements that might scare them.
Being aware of dimensions and staying in the here and now.
Keeping voice down and think like a dog to meet their needs.

Seeing them bloom back to life has been a lifesaver.

Fury animals are great to have around. I'm having a tough night trying sleep. My pup must have known this and came in too lay town with me. Apparently he sensed something. He proceeded to paw me until I gave home some attention. All it took was me to lay my hand on him and he calmed down and fell a sleep for a bit. It really calmed me down. Lowered my BP. Then, he just pops up and goes back to bed with my wife. Just like "OK my jobs done here. Time to go!"

2 totally disparate thoughts this morning on this thread:

1. Dogs & Cats are both predators. And both were bred from pack species (not all big cats are lone hunters). I can see horses still lovin on us even if we're broken, but the weak wolf, weak dog, in the pack is forced out or challenged. But the strong one who is just hurt, not made weaker, but hurting... Is loved on. Maybe we're not as broken as we think we are.

2. ROFLMAO... "You might be in the military" if some injuries are just sexier than others! Just thinking of Grizz's complaint along the lines of if I have to have PTSD couldn't it be from something sexy? Man oh man, that's just us, isn't it? I see you have a hole in your arm? Tell me... Does it make a good story? Chuckling. Because we don't focus on the injury or important part, but whatever distracts from the important part. Is it funny, inspiring, balls out or... Hole. In the arm. Let's fix that. Who cares where it came from? (So these amazons with 6" spike heels, rebar flying everywhere, so I called bullshit - you wouldn't shoot me for drinking your beer...)

Friday said "you wouldn't shoot me for drinking your beer..." Well if it was my last beer........I maybe thinking where I would shoot you??? :D:eek::rolleyes::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:(n):):):);)

I just had to read this thread again..........
Acceptance is the way to get some if not all of your life back......As an old Nam vet and with the clock running. I'll take it....It has gotten me to a place I can, for the most part live with........Long ago I never thought I would live to see 30. Hell I later found out a lot of us thought that....:) So now I looking at 70 and the way my body feels today......well that would be a good run. I just don't want to drag my feet.......Hell I got a party to go to and see some old friends.......(y)(y)(y)
