Addiction To Negativity

I'm starting to become aware that sometimes I find ways to make myself miserable, especially when I am bored. For some reason, I'm looking for reasons to make myself upset. I feel comfortable being sad. I guess I got used to it. Do you have any advice for not caving into that pit once you realize you are doing that?

Sometimes I feel like I'm patronizing myself to become something I feel like I am not. (Being happy in the moment, being mindful)
 
I have been having that problem lately. In another thread recently, someone mentioned making a coping notebook and fill it with ideas for coping with symptoms. I started doing that and I filled it with a lot of positive affirmations, inspirations, quotes, etc. I carry it around with me everywhere to remind me to stay positive. It seems to be working so far.
