Aromatherapy That May Help Relieve Some PTSD Symptoms

Aromatherapy is so full of natural wisdom. I have a friend who has been using and teaching about Aroma therapy for 30yrs. She is from England and the south of France. I remember a wise thing she said one day. If an oil smells good to you on a certain day, it doesn't matter what the defined use is. It will be good for you. Also the reverse is true.

For example, I had gone with my husband to visit his relatives. We were a long way from home. I was feeling sad because my stepfather was in the process of dying at home. I had wandered over to some lemon shrubs, picked a flower absent mindedly. I brought this crushed blosoom to my nose and inhaled deeply. Very soon I felt calmer, more 'in control of my feelings' Lemon was good for me for comfort and relaxing.

You can dilute essential oils in almond oil. It makes great massage oil. You can make your own mix of what works for you. I also mix oils that remind me of being with me Da. ...cedar,lavender, germanium, lemon. I know there a scent missing.....essence of cigarette LOL. I can't afford massages but I can use it on places I can reach, like arms and legs. The rule of thumb is 10% essential oil to 90% almond oil. Sometimes, I need to refresh a lavendar sachet with lemon. It is another way of overcoming the memories of smelly, slippery sweat, and booze.

This is random and kind of off topic, but lavender really does help. I smell it and even drink lavender tea or kombucha. Its relaxing and helps mellow me out when I'm hypervigilant or really panicky.
