Astrology & Other Esoterics

Hey Folks,

Just wanted to start a discussion about using astrology, other esoteric practices or development tools (eg MyersBriggs) to support living with/working through CPTSD or general personal development? What's your experience been?

Also wondering if people feel their astrological chart has a bearing on how they approach living with CPTSD?

from a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon (=CPTSD!) and Virgo Rising that's feeling very connected to that plutonian transformation energy right now. I feel as though I am drawing some deep strength, insight and direction form my moon placement somehow

Looking forward to replies:)

I wasn't aware personality types of that kind are esoteric?

And, nah. Not here. Planets far out are just interesting and beautiful things... no bearing on how I go about my life.

But I pay attention if those close to me reason out some stars are bad for business.
Not because I believe it...
But because that's like when I say someone's spirits are off. Just phrasing of other observations about reality that's woo-woo... the observation itself solid.

For me I would say personality testing can be put with esoteric stuff- it’s considered fairly ‘debunked’ but people still find it useful.

I feel the same about astrology. I don’t believe in it - yet do feel I relate to certain qualities of my starsign ?

I am a Leo to the core of my being. I do not know things to the extent you do but would love to be able to have someone local to talk with about this. I was too busy staying alive to get to do much in all the many areas of interest I have.

It is an interesting topic and many here have many ways of using different methods to help on this journey.

Sorry, there were negative comments before the thread even had a chance to get rolling.

Hope others see it for the interesting and mind-expanding ways to grow. Not everything has to be so negated before given a chance to be learned about and that might help with our journey.

What are some of the things you personally like to do @NatBird, that helps you? I have much to learn about this topic!

I enjoy various "spiritual arts", as well. I'm a Gemini with a Taurus moon and Mercury rising, if I remember correctly. I never really dove too deeply into it, but wouldn't be opposed to doing so. My birth date itself tends to make folks back up when I state it. I love to start giggling a little then say, "Boo!" to add to their dramatic responses.

The Myers-Briggs thingy indicates I'm an INFP - Introverted/Intuitive/Feeling/Prospective - the mediator type. Meh...I used to mediate almost everyday for a living, so I guess there's accuracy in that regard. I'm definitely the INF parts, for sure, but not so sure about the P.

I also pay close attention to number sequences, animal energies, and other various messages from nature that appear throughout the day. I find all of that fascinating. I guess it helps keep me grounded and able to recognize the beauty and potential that surrounds me rather than just the pain, grief, mindlessness, etc.

Another fascinating thing that crossed my path is the Human Design system, although trying to read that chart is as perplexing as the astrological charts to my brain. I discovered I'm a Mental/Sounding Board Projector w/in that system. Which is a very small part of the population. It definitely aligns with how my life has played out, thus far. I'm married to a Generator, which is about 75% of the population, if I remember correctly. Again, fascinating stuff, to me.

I also did a test thingy called the Ennegram, which indicates I am a Type 4with a 4w5 wing, meaning I am an Individualist, I think. I didn't read any further and haven't revisited it to learn more. It didn't feel as fascinating to me, for whatever reason.

Thanks for starting the thread. I've learned through the years that the most odd/"out there"/socially sneered at things have been the most genuinely helpful for me in many ways during my journey through this existence.

Whereas the most popular/heavily funded/peer reviewed/heavily and aggressively defended by most avenues have created more harm/detriment/loss/heartache than I ever imagined. Each have their faults, as does anything, but my direct experiences make me prone to steer clear of the latter every chance I get.

Grateful for the opportunities to keep unlearning, learning, and expanding the supposedly neat little boxes I was pre-programmed to think I HAD to fit in to ever be considered acceptable/successful in this life. There's so many other dots to be connected and so many things to experience.

I like this topic a lot. The Queen has/had an astrologer so that makes me think there might be something to it all :)

My birth chart has planets mostly in Leo, Sagittarius and Virgo and when I read about it all (looooooong time ago) I did mostly fit with the descriptions. However, it talked of an interest in medicine and nutrition which, back then, I was never interested in. Recent years led me to grow a huge interest in these topics though. It was not until several months after that that I remembered what the charts had said! :)

What is your sign, if you don't mind sharing?

Yes I have dipped in and out of the personality testing stuff. Many years ago I worked with a coach who specialised in Myers Briggs and we did the test. Identifying my type at the time was very helpful and helped me a lot in terms of understanding my role in the team I was working in, what I had to offer, and more confidence in some of my qualities and skills. There have been other times when I thought it was a load of bollocks!

Hey @Lumos
I have a lot of fire and Virgo rising which I think gives me a strong interest, if not obsession with nutrition, medicine and health
I think there is something called chart progressions which I think means people growing into some aspects of their chart. Don't quote me on it though

I must say the Queen having an astrologer does not warm me to the topic!;)

Do you notice a pattern with the types of people/friends you attract - elements etc?

I did a Myers Briggs quickly for fun- I get different results when I do this test - it meets us where we are I think and is only as good as our self awareness. Today I am an INFP . Info’s are ‘cooperative and friendly’. This doesn’t describe me. I am reasonably friendly. I can be downright obstinate.
