Astrology --
revisit birth chart at times when trying to make sense of characteristics, trying to remind myself of innate abilities, strengths and challenges (which a chart can indicate)
This as well as Myers Briggs/Human Design personality based stuff has been really useful when lost in the CPTSD. It has helped me to locate a sense of who I am that is not totally caught up in and consumed by CPTSD. Although its important for me to acknowledge that 'who I am' within the framework of these tools is heavily influenced by social conditions but is not solely determined by them. Discovering I had strong INFP qualities (MyersBriggs) has also helped me a lot working with and for/others. It's supported me in being much clearer about what I can bring and being able to articulate it

Tarot --
God I love tarot. I do this simply to receive guidance. I'm not sure how it has helped me with CPTSD. I'm not sure it has but it does give me a sense of connection to something that is of me and greater than me. It provides a sense of being guided (if only I would listen) This sense of a force out there has been and continues to be super helpful for me on my oath. There are times when I also use it to dissociate. I am not suggesting doing this is healthy, in fact it can amount to spiritual-psychic abuse. I will say there are times when this has been a way of safely soothing - connecting with a 'loving parent' via symbols, shapes, colours, numbers

Ritual --
I've engaged in ritual practices intensely in the past and found them very helpful transforming reality, unhelpful negative thought-feeling forms etc.
It's also helped with feeling that connection to something greater, through engagement with the elements, nature. Nature is a big healer for me and there is nothing like regular ritual work with the elements to connect me with its medicine

Numerology --
This has also helped me to make sense of life cycles and understanding some of the medicine and poison I carry that astrology can bring too

Overall, these tools help me ground, connect, which mind sound strange to others but its just how some of us get than anchoring. They also help me to articulate things that I have not managed to give shape and sound to yet, and they provide a map of some kind

Well- I guess it could be interesting to see if people can make a good guess ?

It would but guessing requires knowing a person a bit, otherwise it's just pulling out of a hat, and this is more than that:)

I did a Myers Briggs quickly for fun- I get different results when I do this test - it meets us where we are I think and is only as good as our self awareness. Today I am an INFP . Info’s are ‘cooperative and friendly’. This doesn’t describe me. I am reasonably friendly. I can be downright obstinate.

I come up as INFP and I also can be downright obstinate. I would have a look at a few different sources. I must say I have never some across that description for an INFP

Apparently I am an INFJ, the "Advocate" personality type ?

does that sound about right to you or a load of bollocks?

Ahhh, how cool, @Eagle3 ! I have a friend who dabbled into it much deeper than I did who introduced and explained a lot of it to me. You Tube searches and Jovian archive explained the rest, thus far. Jovian is where I got my free chart.

I refuse to spend money on having readings since you truly never know what/who you may get, be it human design, astrology, etc.. If I ever did decide go that route to learn more, specifically for human design, I'd like to have it be a fellow projector who has studied it for several (preferably at least 7 or so) years.

I forgot to add the numbers to mine in my other post, I'm a 4/6 Projector and the hubby is a 6/2 Generator. He isn't really interested in learning more, but I remain fascinated enough for both of us. lol

@Tornadic Thoughts yea I came across HD in the last two years. I had a play with it during a six weeks meditation retreat. I recall I came up as a generator as was practicing noticing that eh ah and uh uh feeling in my gut (do you know what I'm on about?) anyway, it was quite amazing to notice this and how I much I override innate 'knowing'
Lol, at you having enough interest for you and your husband:)

Yes Virgo ascending :)

avid researcher/ data collector?
Heh, that's an understatement! Yes, although I just thought I was incredibly nosy and obsessed with details  From a young age I would write down all sorts of info, any info, about anything that interested me, lists everywhere. I'm still similar now. People looking through my notebooks would be stunned I think :D My mind never ever shuts up - unless I tell it to - which is rare.

The Pisceans I've known did bring much to my life. They were essentially good people. Unfortunately not in touch with them any longer. I'm just rebuilding my life after years of an abusive relationship.

That's cool you got your correct time of birth, funny how it all clicks into place, isn't it? :)

Yeah as a teen I found astrology really helpful actually. I lost interest when I moved out, went to college, ended up in long term relationships. But recently I'm getting back to *me* again. It is really nice, and I am remembering and discovering what I like all over again :)

I see I will be doing personality tests tonight ??

Your true color is blue! Blue individuals usually are:

Flexible
Personable
Warm
Compassionate
Imaginative

I think I am personable at times, compassionate and can be imaginative. I can be warm.

This flexibility hmmm. I dunno.

I also think the thing with this stuff as it isn't fixed. It's possible to be INFP qualities but then have a lot of fixed energy in astrological chart that might make someone obstinate, stubborn, inflexible etc. It's just guidance, outlines, sketches...IMO:)

@Tornadic Thoughts

I also pay close attention to number sequences, animal energies, and other various messages from nature that appear throughout the day. I find all of that fascinating. I guess it helps keep me grounded and able to recognize the beauty and potential that surrounds me rather than just the pain, grief, mindlessness, etc.
Thank you for articulating this so clearly. I agree 100%

I am a Type 4with a 4w5 wing, meaning I am an Individualist, I think. I didn't read any further and haven't revisited it to learn more. It didn't feel as fascinating to me, for whatever reason
Yes bloody hell I forgot to mention this. I am also a 4w5. I found engaging with this quite helpful for work purposes and understanding some of the operations of my personality

Thanks for starting the thread. I've learned through the years that the most odd/"out there"/socially sneered at things have been the most genuinely helpful for me in many ways during my journey through this existence.
Oh thanks to you and all those that have responded
It's refreshing to talk about something that isn't flashbacks, struggles etc but things that have helped us on the way, even for a moment, however socially validated or invalidated
A significant part of my CPTSD journey is about unlearning and coming back into trusting my perception/inner knowing, which was smashed (Actually much of my ancestral work is this) Much of this work is having a deep innerstanding that there are so many forms of knowledge, and ways of knowing that have been invalidated as a way to subjugate, have power over others and colonise the mind

Also good to engage with you a bit. We have not really spoken but I know that you're into your nutrition, food is medicine kind of person:)

Whereas the most popular/heavily funded/peer reviewed/heavily and aggressively defended by most avenues have created more harm/detriment/loss/heartache than I ever imagined
Hahah FIRE IN THE DARK:) Love it! At this risk of sounding stereotypical this is what I like about Gemini energy - the tendency to just call it!

Grateful for the opportunities to keep unlearning
Yes, @ladee flagged this in my diary earlier. I do believe that a lot of this work is unlearning

Much respect

@Lumos
Haha this is reassuring and funny to read. At least you are organised. I try to store it all in my head! I am very keen on working with the body, healing modalities that are quite hands on, practical. I feel this is a Virgo influence. How did astrology help you as a teen?

Sorry to hear about the abusive relationship. I smiled to hear about you coming into (a different kind?) of relationship with yourself, again:)

I have sun in Capricorn, yep ole goaty lady, mer goat, to be precise. Lots in sag; moon, mars, venus, mercury ... And Scorp rising.

My mum was into Astrology and I had an aversion, growing up, because of that, but, have since warmed to the science/esoteric art. It has been said that Astrology is the foreparent of psychology.

Makes sense, to me.

I am an earthy mama with some fire for learning, discovery, speaking honestly, being honorable. So I very much relate to the strength of the earthy, solid, dependable, ploddy, mountain-climbing Cap (ruled by Saturn, of time, structure, limitations, gravity, institutions, worldly power) who is, very much, a realist and the lively, jokey (Jove ruled) Sagittarius who is very interested in ideas, inward and outward journeying, aspiring to lofty heights in idealism, and morality and who is basically, somewhat of an optimist, and a thumber-at-the-nose-of-convention and who can greatly upset, inadvertently, at times, with blunt truthfulness.

I realised, lately, my Plutonic, Scorpio ascendant is apt. Your Ascendant/rising sign, is how people perceive you. Scorpio is known.for it's mysteriousness, it's intensity, it's relationship with transformative "rites of passage" ~ birth, death, enlightenment, shamanic journeying, sex, drugs and spiritual practice. It's the plumping depths, plummeting and rising inwardly, sleuthing out hidden knowledge, forensics and witchcraft, hypnosis and mesmerising. It's very dark, when It's dark, and very illuminating and freeing when It's matured and growing from a foundation of truth and love.

Intense.

I have 2 Scorpionic children, oldest and youngest, their dad, also, and I.was raised by my ma with a scorp moon (which rules our emotional bodies).

Yes, there is real science to Astrology, and anyone who fancies themself "scientific" isn't being that, when.they are cynical. Scepticism is being open and enquiring, not being closed and derisive, and arrogant.

I could go on and on, I'm a little interested, a little learned, not much though, but it's quite amazing and VERY complex.

I would like to get a family constellation drawn up, it shows the connections, between family members. I have a very watery fam, in sun signs, the whole set of water signs, in my children, Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces, but two of Cancerian and two Scorp. And an earthy Taurian and a VERY saggy Sag (7 planets in sag, and he really, really shows it).

I used to say I felt like I was drowning.in children and it really felt like it.

My earth child and I have always been solid, she was never swayed from being my active daughter (as opposed to many who were swayed, and manipulated by their very Scorpionic father)

My guy now is, truly, a peace keeping, harmony-promoting Libra, with strong virgo influence and a warm and fiery mars in Leo.

Fun fact. Did you know the words marriage, marital and martial are all from.the root word mars? Yes, according to our elder/ancestor cultural influences, namely our Roman heritage, Mars rules marriage and war.

As for Meyer-Briggs, mine is INTP.

I'm also a dabbler in numerology. I could go a little into that?

Maybe later.

@mumstheword thanks for this. Your descriptions are beautiful, eloquent, lyrical, on point.
There was a lot there and much I want to come back to especially this Scorpio energy which I sense I am working with a lot at the moment (Scorpio Moon - although in western chart it is in Sag by 1 degree!)

How do you manage the Scorpio energies in your life now?

It didn't surprise me to read you mention Capricorn. I find that this is one of the few signs that can go with me to the scorpionic oceanic realms, and not get terrified by it, lost in it but and not be indifferent. I find there is something about this energy that is just very grounded in what is, however it smells! and some how that brings quite a deep level of acceptance. Does this make any sense?

Yes would love to hear what your experience is with numbers. I have found them very useful. I have strong 9 energy in my chart and experience many of the qualities and challenges

I didn't know that about the word martial but its funny you mention it as I was thinking back to when I had a numerology reading years back and the guy kept saying, -- you have a very strong martial energy. I took it that he was saying I liked fighting and got pissed off! Hahah;) But it all makes sense now with that Scoprio moon in that stinger phase - oh dear!

Much appreciation mums:)

Sounds right! Much more post-trauma than pre-trauma. My personality changed somewhat.

:)

and that's the thing too, this stuff is dynamic and is informed by changing conditions. How do you experience holding/working with this advocate energy? Do you find that description useful?

At least you are organised
Sometimes it's more like organised chaos :hilarious:

I had a lot of books about astrology and other similar topics. I used to read every single page, not just the ones that applied to me and friends & family. I would become so absorbed in it and it helped push out negative stuff :) I used to draw a lot of suns, moons, planets, stars too, which also helped me.

I feel I lost a lot of myself in the relationship. I never quite realised until years later. I feel like I'm back the way I was before that relationship and I can do the things I like now. I was very unhappy for a very long time. I think I just was not *me* anymore. I'm not even sure how that happened. It was a gradual process.
