And the H&K 416 is considered an assault weapon that meets the importation ban. :
1989- "Foreign assault weapons ban began." No more semi-automatic rifles that had bayonet lugs, muzzle brakes, pistol grips, and grenade launching attachments (SKS exempt) could be imported in that configuration
1993- no more "assault pistols" could be imported (i.e. no more Uzi's).
1994- Domestic "assault weapons ban" began, sunset in 2004. The overall crime bill that bans any Chinese, East Asian (S Korea/Japan exempt) firearms and ammo from being imported and heavily regulates Russian imports (no more handguns or Dragunov rifles from them) is still intact. Hence why Chinese rifles are at a premium and still continue to rise. Glad I got mine.
1998- Bans any semi-automatic rifle that can take a capacity greater than 10 rounds since "it is not considered sporting to need more than 10 rounds." The study conducted by the Treasury Department, I kid you not, got these ridiculous regulations from high-end, expensive, hunting brochures from the rich saying "they don't use semi-automatics or AK-47's to hunt with"
. Elitism much? This policy still stands today.
2005- Bans any barrels used for military rifles/machine guns. That means that all the barrels that are here now are only going to increase in price. That is why many builders of foreign kits are using inferior U.S. barrels to original factory barrels because it is now getting harder and harder every year to find originals plus they are not getting any cheaper.
So Answer me this, the H&K is not an issue weapon in the US Military or the UK. So What military were you part of in Iraq? My second question is : Why did you say you bought an H&K 416 When you returned to the US? They are banned from importation to the USA. Then you claimed to have bought another AR-15 rifle. I only ask as something makes me think you are on here messing with us. Did you really join the Military and spend time in Combat? Or are you writing a paper for school and thought this would be a good subject? I can't help but doubt you, your first few postings are very different than most of us in here.
