Basic Grammar Rule Removed

...when I am forced to read something that is full of acronyms and such. (Mainly complaining when someone sends me an email that is all "IRK/LOL/WTF/ETC" You know what I mean.)
Awww, great. Now everyone knows I am an American. You know how we appear to the rest of the world! LOL.

It's the SSDI, AZ/WI, MFT whatever stuff that throws me. I want to write to some posters - not everyone is in the US! I happen to be a native English speaker and I still need to basically Google Translate your post to understand it!

More generally, I hope that other members will suggest ways to make posts more readable, but either way I hope it significantly reduces the burden on Admin and Moderators.

It wasn't actually anyone recent who changed my mind on this, it was more an ongoing issue based on the old member base who wanted it more, though have moved on now, versus the newer member base coming in that is having the most issue with it. Things change, and it had a time and place and worked well... it doesn't seem to be as much now though based on newer trends and attitudes. Thus... I decided to remove it and see what happens.

I actually removed it some years ago to see what would happen, and at that time the majority of members cracked it and demanded it back.

Hello again,

Circumstances being what they are, much more pleasant then I'd've ever expected, I find myself compelled to answer to three issues here.

1st, Russ did very well in communicating with my wife and I. In a situation as what occurred a couple days ago, following the little niggle to reach out and say *something* is a trait to be valued when its found. In the information age, too many people have this funny habit of saying nothing that's needed and almost everything that isn't, to oversimplify a very complex cultural dysfunction.... Or in otherw

2nd, My post was not meant as a complaint, however I cannot deny that it easily fits within that description.... It was meant as an analysis from an outside perspective that may not have been contemplated by others involved in the situation, IE Food for thought. I had no idea (nor hardly expected) that within a day such a turn around might occur.

3rd & Finally, Assuming that my wife's thread played even a minor role in this outcome, I can do nothing else but express surprise (Pleasant of course) and admiration to find a board that, for whatever reasonings, would seemingly take an analysis as such I provided and act on it so quickly ..... To the point that it may have even been a little hasty being a fear of mine. However, the willingness to do so at all is a courtesy the likes of which I never thought to see in my lifetime on the Internet, lol, for whatever that lonely and embittered expectation may have been worth! So I feel compelled to at the least note that it occurred the way it did and applaud the flexibility.

Attempting to curb my own verbosity,
Raevenon

I taught English Literature and Business Communication at HE level for many years, and some of the Gestapo-style grammar notifications I got left me completely mystified. Often, formatting was labeled 'grammar'. I also believe that we'll be begging for rules regarding decent, adult writing to be applied, but I do think the rules will have to be better formulated.

I've already given up reading several posts. My brain just cannot deal with trying to read badly written and badly formatted posts.

Of course, as a moderator I would have previously forced myself to read and correct the errors.

The sad part is, that one badly written post just puts me off reading the whole thread. I suppose it's just something that I'll have to get used to. That I will be able to read less and less posts & threads on this forum.
