Sufferer Being Young With Ptsd

Yep. I started getting extremely symptomatic when I was 15 as well. I'm 24, now. It does get easier. When I was 19 I was still experiencing massive trauma reverb. It has only been within the past couple years that I've really stabilized.

Welcome. I'm glad you're here.

I had ptsd since I was a young child but didn't get help until my 30s. I'm 46 now and I'm just beginning to feel almost normal. Keep working on healing. You're body has given you an amazing gift to survive something. Now you just have to teach it that the danger is gone and you don't need all those cool survival skills/responses anymore.

Hey there,
I dont really know how this forums works, but im wondering if there are more people who hav...
im new to the forum and dont really know how it works lol, i was diagnosed with PTSD a few weeks ago, and it really interferes with school and social life

Welcome to the forum.

We have a few young teen members here. I don't remember a time before symptoms; when I was a very young child I was a textbook case. My symptoms peaked between the ages of 12 and 17. I'm turning 25 in November.

It does get easier to manage with treatment and awareness. I hope you find this resource helpful.

I had PTSD practically since childhood, just had no time for anything more than management of it.

I had to keep going, 'self care' was 'don't get yourself & anyone else killed and don't complain'.

Not the most healthy by a far shot.

The productive part I learned for management:

Grab whatever you can use for healing, stick to it, and expand on it. If you have to face hate & violence for who you are / compounded by your PTSD, disregard them as much as possible, they don't matter, your well being does.

Welcome.

I'm probably one of the young teen members @Simply Simon had in mind. I'm 15 now, already turned 15 this year so I'm four of five years younger than you.

I don't know when my PTSD symptoms hit, but I've been a mess since forever pretty much. I found a regular health checkup report on me from back when I was 4 years old that said I displayed signs of having had way too much responsibility.

It sometimes really messes up at school during the worst periods, because school is a lot of people and crowded halls and no chance of having a break, but it's manageable. I let my friends know what's up and they're helpful. Also I'm in 12th grade, in my area that means I've got one year + the 13th year left until I finish, and hopefully it'll be fun. I'm too stubborn to let PTSD stop my schooling, pretty much

Well I -was- young with PTSD, once. :p Like a lot of folks, I grew up with it, so there has never been a 'normal' experience to measure my life against. And I get how it might be hard to relate to people who are significantly older than you. But don't write us off completely.. ;)
