My ptsd boyfriend was in a fight in his sleep and punched me in the face, which broke my nose. How do we sleep safely together again?? It friggin' hurts!

A year ago he was doing shoving and some light kicking in his sleep....I would tell him to turn over and he was receptive at that time to turning over and I could sleep. It seems like there have been many months without incident until his punching me in the nose.Thats a tough one... does he do it all the time, or was it an isolated event?
I'm very scared to sleep with him now....there was no warning with active tossing and turning before this. He had some huge work stressors in regards to ignoring his work accomodations, but we didn't know it would trigger him this much. I also think that he must have seen me in some regards, as he punched me with his left hand and I was sleeping on his right side...definitely more than just a random flail during sleep. Almost like when my kids would have night terrors and be able to communicate with me but still feel me as the nightmare, ya know?Uh yeah, that sucks for you. How are you? How's your nose?

He bought a king size bed, but there is no way that I feel safe with that right now. This man is so skilled in combat that just a few extra inches really doesn't feel like protection when his logic brain is shut off. The irony is our entire family feels so safe with him against any threat...but now it seems that when his sleep kicks in, I could be deemed the threat. Terrifying!Honestly, either get a king size bed and keep body pillows between you or get seperate beds.

We haven't slept in the same bed since my nose broke. I just don't feel at all safe, especially with the pain of it healing. He flails around so much in his sleep that even just light contact would hurt. How's the sleeping situation working out?
