@SGT.Sunshine. - My primary job is 3D0X1, but I've worked as a "International Military Student Liaison" my entire career. I was part of security forces (security police) while I was on JBB.

@FightforPeace - Definitely connecting with what you posted. I feel that way even out the door. I know there are good people in this country that get trampled on, though. That's where my "patriotism" is. Interesting about the meaning of Balad. I wondered about that, especially since I work around a large percentage of middle-eastern students here on Invitational orders.

Welcome Curt....

Listen I'm one of the old Nam farts here and also know about the emptiness. Many of us dealt with for over 40 + years and survived without the help available today. You'll get through it - listen to your fellow *sandbox* warriors, you're not alone or unique.

You write very well - it's good therapy!

Curt,

The thing that put me off was your disclamer, "Your vote will be publicly visable". This site is set up by combat vets for combat vets. It's not public because the public will never understand no mater how our conditions are presented. Hell, the counselors don't even understand unless they, themselves have seen combat.

The next thing that surprised me was your account of isolation as "It was a wonderful time, the winter of my life." There is absolutely no comfort or wonder in the isolation that we feel. It's a curse born as a defense mechanism to keep us functional as we kill without mercy, and watch close friends suffer and die.

As I continued to read I could relate to your account of how isolation turned to panic. But, it's not a continuous thing. If it was none of us could survive because of the intensity of the condition.

Take what I've said as a general observation. If you are truly here to join us all as we try to find the things we left behind in the killing fields, then welcome Brother. However, if you intend to use the things here for public consideration, please understand that I don't give a continental f*ck about the public's view.

One thing that is true is that unless you're a member and post in the 'members only' area any other posts here can be seen by anyone. So in essence the statement that "your vote will be publicly visible' is true. Something to keep in mind if your desire is to have a post or thread that's private.

HC you can't remove a thread once you've created it. Only Anthony has that ability.

Curt you said; "In fact, it may not be long before people turn away from me here because I'm strange and feel dangerous. That has been the consensus after all. We will see how things go."

Not sure about the feel dangerous part. But so you know I am another old Nam vet. You to me being dangerous is a f*cking joke........Why??? Because I am not afraid of any Man ever!!! Not one!!!!

If I turn away from you, it will be for some other reason, not because your strange and dangerous!!! At this point I have no idea what the f*ck you are.........Given time we will all know. If you are a combat vet and have PTSD, you have come to the right place for help.........

Edit: Forgot to say that 99.9% of the vets on this forum are f*cking dangerous!!!!
