Chat, check-in, and hang out

Well, I wanted to make a butternut squash soup and it really ended up being a veggie soup. Delicious though. Last year I got an immersion blender for christmas and finally came out of box. Tomatoes, carrots, multi peppers, onion, garlic, butternut squash all roasted in onion, then vegetable stock and half and half, and basil, salt and pepper. Ended up being my own recipe from looking at others. Yummy. I am attempting this winter salad for Thanksgiving. Kale and baby spinach, brussel sprouts, shred carrot, mandarin oranges and cubed apples, pomegranate and candied pecans with a dressing from red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, olive oil and maple syrup. Sounds kind of weird buy hey, nobody has to eat it.

ms spock I am ok.
FYI, that salad I mentioned above was horrible. If you see a recipe for apples and kale and candied pecans, pomegranate and carrots and other stuff. Dont do it, it was not good.
It’s a variation on the classic Waldorf salad. There are maaaaaaany versions which are very very good. I personally dislike kale (I like most bitter greens, but kale, to me tastes like lawn clippings left to rot in the hot sun), so I’d switch it out for something I do like; ditto anything with mustard & redwine vinegar can either be amazing or taste like vomit, depending on the types & ratios involved… so that one’s in the air. But the core ingredients? Are good. BEEN THERE when the core goes into meltdown, and its gag-yuck-spit-it-out!!! 🤮

Friday I totally agree, I even used half baby spinach to offset the kale. I guess the only soggy like salad I have ever liked is one my aunt made with warm bacon and the grease as well.

So how is everyone feeling about Christmas that is quickly coming our way?
I just cant get into it. I have never felt like not decorating, but I really dont even care to put up a tree. My hub brought one into the living room this morning but needed lights, which he got this evening. I did make way to the attic and get the wreaths but haven't hung them. Im thinking its a combo of things. Past few years we go to daughters so dont have much holiday company....and I cant do it myself so I have to ask hubby to do all the carrying of containers. Time would be better spent organizing and cleaning..ha. Use to love to decorate and bake and host. I need a sign for the front door that says "What the hell do you want" lol. After this year, Im talking to my family about cutting it way back. I keep trying to be a minimalist which is not working well. But there is real fear about where the US is heading and the cost of living.

Rose White, I know its not always good advice to fake it til you make it, but it does actually work sometimes. Sometimes it just takes extra effort to put on a happy face, but in the end, as you said, have some real good moments.🥰

I have been neglecting/avoiding some things for past several years. Even before ptsd symptoms, I was kind of ADD as a kid (which was likely cptsd). None the less, the way I succeeded at things was to be 100% organized. Like and energizer bunny, I always put things back where they went, stayed on top of stuff, and developed my own little crazy system for keeping track of all. These past years, I just throw it in the file cabinet. Shove it in a drawer, or toss it in a bottomless basket if I want to avoid. I had 2 new doors put on a couple months ago and new locks. Over past couple yrs, other new locks, such as a shed. I finally figured a way to mark all these keys, but I could not find where I hid them all from myself. Driving self crazy and looking all day. I finally found them. Now they are safe in a box for me to work on. Hhheww, what a victory. Mental exhaustion and physical too.
