Meemersred, good to hear from you. I would honestly just leave him alone. It's fairly obvious he has made his choice (especially seeing that he has already made another dating profile) But I'm sorry that you had to go through all of the pain and heartache. I hope you find healing and peace. Just keep yourself as busy as possible. The down time is always the hardest!

Meemersred, it takes time but you will be fine. Yes, ptsd can play a part in how one relates to others but also he is a guy - doing guy things. Just stack it on the pile of experiences you've had in life, learned from, and put behind you and turn to the pile of experiences that are in front of you. My friends and I say every minute is a triumph - because we know when your heart is broken time goes by slowly - at least for awhile.

What you explained in the first post has happened to every relationship I have ever been in. Being in a relationship caused my trauma to trigger. My current relationship is the only one that has survived my trauma trials.

Isolation is a very common response to someone who has PTSD triggers, I always want to isolate when I get a big trigger. Not everyone with PTSD can handle being in a relationship and if your partner can't handle it right now give them some breathing room. When my PTSD rears it's ugly head I need people to be extra sensitive and gentle with me. What I would have loved more than anything is for the past boyfriends I had to persist and stick through my trauma with me. My current guy is the only one who has been able to handle it. We've been together for 3 years and there have been lots of ups and downs.
