Do You Hate To Get Your Hair Cut?

Ugh, I can't stand it. I have to do my calming exercises throughout the cut and I never seem to get the haircut I want because I'm ready to go before they are done. I just don't like people touching me. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get it done since I don't do a good job myself.

I just get a clipper cut. #4 on top, #3 on the sides. Not much scope for harm there. Not like when I get the barber to shave me.

One thing I don't like, though, is when the barber is busy and I end up going to a unisex place and getting a woman to cut my hair. I never think women really appreciate what it is I want from a haircut: my hair made shorter as quickly and cheaply as possible. No chat, no chemicals and no water squirted on my head.

LOL you would not get any of that here Privateer. Clippers out, choose you cut number and wait until its finished. No messing just an all over cut, trimmed round the ears and the neck line tidied up.

10 mins max.

Thats what my husband gets as he does not like anyone messing about with his hair. He wont let anyone else do it but me.

It's not the cut or chemicals that bothers me, but the intimacy. I absolutely loath getting my hair done, but now have a system whereby I am never alone with a hairdresser. This is no disrespect to the lass, and not about whether or not I trust her- I do or she would not be there - but I just hate feeling captured/cornered/restrained.

I also now only get it cut in the mornings. One time I had arranged an evening appointment after work and went on to have nightmares afterwards.

I am hoping it will get better and easier as time passes....

I trimmed my bangs after they were sticking into my eyes. They may not be perfectly cut straight and even, but I did not have to suffer the agony of getting my hair cut too short and my bangs cut too long, because the place wants me back sooner than 3 months from now.

I've been known to do a pretty bad job of mine myself! Or go years without having it done - I HATE it! :'(

My worst nightmare is being touched, especially from behind, which makes it rather tricky getting my hair cut! It doesn't help that I have to take my glasses off so can't see a thing and feel totally vulnerable :(

I usually go to a cheap hairdresser that doesn't even wash it - just does a dry cut as quick as possible! ;)

My father used to force me to get a burr haircut when I was a kid and I hated it because I felt humiliated. I could not have the style I wanted until I was much older, so that by the time I was 19 years old, my hair was halfway down my back. Yes I was a hippie. Now I am 51 and just glad that I still have some hair to cut, but I prefer to cut it myself rather than go to the barber shop.

I use to love to get my hair done/cut. Since my mom died, though, it has been difficult to go in and have anything done. It's been hard to do anything I enjoy and it's almost two years. It's getting a little easier to see my hairstylist, but the first time it was like pulling teeth to get me in there. Thankfully she didn't know it. The tears were okay, she knew I was grieving my mom.

Once I get through this depression and such, I'm sure I will go back to enjoying it.
