Does Having a Routine Help With PTSD?

A horse? That's awesome! What fun.

This thread is a good reminder for me, Evie. Though I've got something of a routine since I work, I have been slipping off a lot the last few weeks. I was doing two jobs, so after I got off the second I would come home and watch tv and putter around and stay up very late. My insomnia only needs a slight nudge to get raring. But I still had to get up quite early for work the next morning. It wasn't long before I was very sick (physically with a chest infection and emotionally with stress).

I've been off this week on "vacation," recovering, and I've promised myself that I'll keep to a better routine from now on. I've quit my second job and I know that I have to turn the TV off and do something quiet in a dimly lit room for about two hours before I want to sleep. It takes me a loooong time to get into sleep-mode.

Yeah it really makes a difference, doesn't it? I never thought it would. But even getting dressed in the morning, rather than staying in jamas all day has been a big help to me. And wow I didn't realize you had 2 jobs kers! Maybe it's good you quit one. Less money I'm assuming, but money isn't everything. Sorry you got so sick, actually that's exactly what happens to me when I'm not careful too. And re: insomnia, I've been trying to avoid the computer and usually the TV as well, after about 8 pm at night (although I've slipped the last couple of days with my aunt and uncle being away!). It really seems to help me get to sleep at a more decent hour.
