@PTSDude Hey! Thanks for sharing. I'm also a photographer, not photojournalist, tho. Have you tried talking to a therapist via Skype? I'm from South America and managed to find THE perfect therapist for my specific issues just by searching YouTube videos. The Doc is located in Miami and accepted pay pal. It was great, I didn't have to leave the house nor I could since we were in different countries, right? ;) So, yeah...a bunch of words typed on youTube, found the guy. Also, I recently started plain therapy (not trauma specific) here were I am via health care - total different thing from US health care system :/ . She doesn't understand me sooo well, but at the point I am right now, I can kind of translate what she says and apply to my life giving it a more profound meaning that what she can't reeeeally pick on. In the end, it's complementary to my Skype guy and it adds a lot to what he says. If you don't find the specific resources you need, yes create yours. I'm creating mine by combining different Ts plus other guys I've been watching online, books I've been reading, and I also have my faith (which is absolutely crucial for me) and I'm getting there. Just search the internet. Youtube is great, videos about eeeeeeverything. When you find a T you think could help you, if he doesn't accept talking via Skype or anything, INSIST. I've also done that in past and it works. You might be able to find a lot o people to a start a support group also. keep goin. :) oh, and also 30 decades; you'll be fine.

Also, read this book: Trauma and Recovery by Judith Lewis Herman. Any public library should have one, I guess. I read and e-book I borrowed from NY Public library (from a distance too). Besides your most recent traumas while being a photojournalist, you've been through severe child abuse and that kind of trauma compares to trauma suffered by veterans (if not more painful). So yes, not only you witnessed combat, you fought at one (or many), you know what i'm sayin? ;) I found the book very validating, personally.
