How did you obtain housing? I get ssi/ssdi and didn't make enough when I did work to get more than the basic income of 700 something. I make 2,000 shy a year to qualify for hud or low income housing. How can that be possible that I am too poor to qualify for help?

It’s definitely not true for HUD, local low income housing may vary.

The housing specialists through the homless shelter I have worked with. The place live in now was due to a program that helps with your deposit.

Keep looking.

Your state may simply suck for low income housing. You may have to leave the state.

I know someone who was in low income housing (federally funded) and only paid around $50/mo.

Believe me this area sucks in general I have lived in a lot of places over the last few years and this place is just weird. I think I would have a lit more hope if I could get myself to an area near a non religious city. Its not like the desolate rural area I grew up, but still not big enough to have easily accessible resources. Psychology today only lists 4 therapists for the area. I am just thrilled to have a therapist at this point even if they told me my past stays in the past and we are only going to focus on the future.
