Good Childhood Memories?

This is not meant AT ALL to minimize or ignore the horrific things that happened to many of us here in childhood. This is me trying to keep my head above the water with some difficulty, and I got to thinking about connecting with resource memories from childhood. Besides the horrible stuff, there must have been some good. These are a few I can think of:

1. A huge set of hardwood blocks. You could make whole towns out of it, it had Roman arches and everything.
2. Fisher Price Little People - before they decided they were a chocking hazard. Loads of fun.
3. Picking blueberries in the hills near the town where I lived, around this time of year.

Anyone else?

Following the creek as far as we could walk. Grape-lemonade Koolaid. Jingle jumps, one on each leg. Red light, Green light. Trolls. My mom saved boxes and cans from groceries, and she set up a grocery store in the playroom one day. Loads of fun!! She took us camping to this great cabin by a lake and we got to go out in a rowboat by ourselves!

Grades six, seven and eight - the years when I had become keenly aware of the abuse and that I was trapped. I was somehow able to do well there at that school and make friends. I was pretty screwed up by then but I saw kindness in places I wouldn't have expected it.

Sports. I got good at sports. I got good at academics and believe those were the things that saved my life. They were good times in the midst of chaos and terror.

I'm sorry it's such a hard question for you to answer
It's no problem. Many of my earlier childhood memories are repressed, so I wouldn't remember anyway. If I had to pick something..it would maybe be birthdays, after my abuser was out of my life. I always enjoyed getting new Star Wars action figures from family. :) (This was in the late 1970's-early 1980's)

@sunseeker,

Re: jungle gyms, come in many forms, (they showed up in google, for me; maybe the spelling you used? ). Anyhow, overall it a term used to describe a structure that kids can play on.

I knew the oldest version, if you can imagine, to be a web-like arrangements of bars, that sat in the shape of a half-dome on the ground. It contained bars to climb on, and bars to hang from; more modern versions have slides, and even have little bridges and treehouse-like portions, built into them.

A happy memories are being babysat by my paternal grandmother. I remember watching her pull freshly baked bread from the oven.
