Hearing Your Name In A Song

Does it freak you out? Maybe it had this effect on me because I just wrote about emotionally triggering songs. But I'd only ever heard my name in one song (not popular). All of the sudden, I hear "my name" and born in - year I was. I did a double take and had to Google it because I couldn't believe my ears.

Just curious of anyone's else's feelings/reactions to hearing their names in songs.

My name was in a popular love song.

It was really weird, when I was a kid at Girl Scout Camp. I brought a stash of candy that no one could find.
One night, I came back to the cabin, and found a group of girls singing that song, pleadingly....
They were singing for my candy!

I'd rather have my candy, than listen to their singing ;), but I gave them some, anyway.

After they munched, they took my hands, and laughing, sang the song as we line-danced through the cabin and outside (until the counselors came and sent us off to bed). We climbed in, held flashlights up under our chins, and told funny and scary stories to each other.

Anytime I hear that song now, I think of that night, and those goofy sugar-starved friends... It's a "sweet memory". Thank you for reminding me, Grace :).

(Oh, just remembered... I had a tiny bit of candy left at the end of my stay - I rationed it perfectly. I hid it for the next occupant of my bunk arriving as we were leaving, for a sweet surprise ;).)

I have been plagued for years with my name being in a song. I hate the damn song, and could scream every time I hear it.

Enough said.

Outkast Ms. Jackson, they clearly say my name a number of times yet it doesn't show up when you read their lyrics!

Strange!! Wonder how much money they owe me in royalties by now.

Sad to say, when I was growing up and the song "Little Red Corvette" was played my family would say "Little Nicolette".

I got stuck with "Aimee, what you gonna do?" By the time I was 12, all I wanted to do was smash the record.

I just can not stand to hear my first or middle name, which I both use. First name for professionals - teachers, therapists etc. And my middle name I use with just any normal person. When I here my name, I just want to smash things. Having my abuser use them both so negatively, bad childhood memories and bad parents, I just get disconnected. This is only when I hear my name in music or television or when somebody tells me "Hey, I know somebody else who has a similar or same name,"

Old Irish song. 'I'll take you home again Kathleen, across the Irish sea'.

Now I'm non violent and non confrontational but honestly, I just want to do serious damage whenever I hear it
