Good for you........So, do you feel better, knowing that you could do it, did do it, and it looks really good?????

:occasion: yey well done OFD!!!!

So pleased that it all worked out. How do you feel now? What are you most proud of? What was the biggest challenge?

Lots of questions I know, but this is a great opportunity to reflect on your achievement and experience.

:thumbs-up xxx

Maybe you could set a timer and just work for 10-15 minutes at a time, then rest. Set the timer again, and do it all over.

Hahaha!! YES!! you know, you SHOULD have before and after pictures. Imagine how great you will feel if you can actually see the difference!

Way to go!! Even if you only moved a pair of dirty socks..something, is something. xo

Thinking of you on your cleaning journey (lol...as I sit here totally avoiding the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Sigh. Tomorrow...)

Ah well you see Grainne, I DID take before and after pictures! I do feel the obligation to take photos of absolutely everything that comes within 50 metres of me (which could explain the 10,000, yes 10,000, photos on my laptop).

To answer everyones questions- no comment, this interview is over!!! *slams door*

No seriously though, I do feel better, I woke up this morning (and by morning I mean 4:30pm) and when I realised I have the physical capability of moving in my bed I was pretty stoked. I have a queensize bed *cough*mattress on the floor*cough* so I end up with books and and clothes and whatever all over it, and yes, I do sleep with my laptop next to me.
I never have the energy to get started, but once I start cleaning I tend to get right into it. I do take a lo of breaks though (as everyone on chat last night would know I was procrastinating more than cleaning).
The biggest challenge, it's not the cleaning itself, but KEEPING it clean. I did a huge spring clean of my living room the other day, I have never cleaned my living room to the point I was moving furnature to clean under it or anything before but the other day I did. It lasted about 3 days. It's not too bad, but it frustrates me that I seem to have this superhuman capability of making a mess by doing nothing more than entering a room.

I can still feel a bit of cleaning mode in me, so perhaps I'll do more tonight. Bathroom? Kitchen? Who knows what news I'll bring next...

Okay so I did nothing yesterday. BUT, I am making an attempt now. Next stop- kitchen. I have put some rubbish in a bag (wow big move), and I need to get rid of a lot of dishes.
I am starting to stress a bit because I need to get my garden finished, I have so many trees outside and I really need to sweep all the leaves (so many leaves....) and cut some of the creepers. Problem? I can stay awake during the day to do it. My grandparents are coming tomorrow to pick up all my rubbish and stuff from the garden and I haven't finished. In fact they wanted to come TODAY which frustrated me, we planned for tomorrow. I think my grandma got a little annoyed at me but I was too tired to really give a crap and said come tomorrow.

I have been wanting to get rid of a lot of stuff which I have been doing now, I have so many dishes and old clothes (partly because my grandparents keep bringing me second hand clothes to go through which I keep asking them not to!). A lot of the stuff I'm throwing away is still good, the could go to the Salvos or something, but I know if I spend the time to go through it all I'll NEVER get it done, so all of it is getting thrown. I feel kind of bad about it, but I'm just putting it in garbage bags and taking it to the dump. I know my grandparents will start going through everything to give it away if I tell them that, and I can't handle people going through my belongings, so I have put garbage in the bags on top of everything else to disguise it. Does that sound a bit odd? I dunno. All I want to do is get rid of it all. I have so much stuff and nowhere to put it, all my cupboards are filled to the top with crap, I want to have more organisation and less clutter. I think I'll feel better with that. I have lived here for 4 years and have never gone through everything, I've never done any spring cleaning, and seriously and wrong as this will sound, I have probably done the dishes a maximum of 10 times in the years I've lived here. Isn't that terrible? I usually just hide all the dirty dishes in the cupboard and wash whatever I need when I need it.

I'm doing okay with the kitchen, I am going through the cupboards getting rid of food and stuff, and to give you an example of just how much crap I really do have in all my cupboards, I found food I didn't even know I had, and some of it had use-by dates of 2006! Hungry anyone?

Bit by bit--you're getting it done.:thumbs-up

Keep going. It will be so worth it. You need/deserve to have a clean environment. That said, let me tackle my office of never-ending paperwork!

Ok, so you hide the dirty dishes in the cabinet and only wash them when you need to??????? That's gross.......It attracts bugs, mice, rats, rodents, and it creates nasty bacteria that is unhealthy......Not to mention the disease that these rodents carry also.....

I'm glad that you are finally cleaning up your world, you may feel a whole lot better.......

I think this is a symbolic moment. No spring cleaning for 4 years coinciding with you sorting and sifting through your past traumas and anxieties. Good job hon.... you are doing so well!

Haha...OFD...I have one cupboard in my kitchen that I don't even open anymore. There's nothing rotting in there but the last can I picked up (CAN, mind you) expired at least two years ago. Every year I try to go through the food in my cupboards and give anything I don't use away to food drives at Christmas time...lol...last year I opened that cupboard and said something like "woah..." then closed the door.

I have no room for new food..so, I just tend not to buy many canned goods anymore. (how lazy is that?!) I guess the good side is that I am continually buying fresh food for the house and that's about all we eat. Silver lining? Who knows...my husband often worries that the cupboard might fall off the wall from the weight of all those cans of food that no one will ever eat.

There's a good goal for me for next weekend. Must clean out that cupboard. :)

Thinking of you cleaning today!

Haha, I think a lot of food in my fridge and cupboard is just there so it looks like I actually HAVE food. But there comes a time when I just gotta chuck it. I spring cleaned my fridge recently and by the time I was finished I had an onion and half a litre of milk left...

I don't know if you can get this television program where you live, but there is one here titled "hoarders". It focuses on just that. People who need help because they
have ruined their homes by hoarding.

The featured woman this past week was going to have her home condemned and she was going to be put out on the street. She was 65 with no place to go.

While a very touching story the truth of it is they removed 8,000 pounds of trash, rotten food, mouldy furniture and a lot of unidentified stuff from her home. It took
dozens of people, days to simply shovel the crap out of her home. Yes, I said shovel. They used huge snow shovel the remove the filth from her floors. It was several feet thick. During the process they found 2 dead cats that had been dead for years.

Those of us with the tendency to hoard need to take heed and know that unless we get a handle on our clutter we could end up with this scenario-----------!
