I Need Help - Jaw Clenching Relief

Hmmm....I didn't realize I was jaw clenching until I lost a filling and had to see the Dentist. He was the one who noticed that several of my molars were cracking and worn down. He suggested a mouth guard, which has helped huge. As well I get a massage monthly to my jaw area, which initially hurts like H E double hockey sticks but is worth it in thew long run. My clenching has certainly cut back.

Hope this helps

Just wanted to add in that I got my first nightguard guard 2 months ago. Last week I noticed a lot of cracks and a big chunk of it missing, so I took it back to my dentist, who was totally in shock about how much damage I'd done to it in 2 months. So he sent it off the the technician to get another layer of acrylic put over it, but the technician rang the dentist and told him it was too badly damaged to repair!

So I've had to get a brand new one, which is like 3 times harder/thicker acrylic! If I destroy this one, it's off to a specialist who I was supposed to see all along, but couldn't afford it.

It's kind of amazing how the guards are supposed to last a few years yet I completely destroyed one in 2 months!

Was conscious of clenching jaws and much teeth grinding for at least 10 years. Two years ago paid thousands of dollars (aus) to have teeth repaired, and some simply capped on the edges where the nerves and pulp was in danger of being exposed. Laminating covers I think. Also got a mouth guard. Did not use it very much. Continued to break teeth through grinding and clenching. More dollars to fix the problem.

Finally, have stopped by making myself totally aware of when I started to clench/grind/tap teeth, with the cost of fixing teeth prominently in my mind.
Just could not afford the "luxury" of continuing the activity. Don't have money any longer.

Took time, but somehow my subconscious made me aware of what I was doing and woke me. Cannot recall doing it for quite some months now.

Worth a thought?

Hey Everyone!

Last night I woke with the most chronic jaw pain ever! I took a hydrocodone after ibuprofen did nothing and I was awake in pain for 3 hours in the middle of the night.

This morning it came back as soon as I woke up so I did some research. For anyone with TMJ or headaches or any joint pain actually check out this site, It's great! You do have to watch tutorial videos but it really helped! Watch the technique videos then click on Jaw pain. Good luck to you all I'm so sorry you have to deal with this too it sucks!!
