I work in kids scholl. Kids can get pretty rough towards eachother when they play.
We try to talk with them about it - schools have some programs to teach them social - be - nice to eachother skills, but still...
Today it went all wrong as the kids where out to play. A kid strangled another and the strangeld one seemingly fainted.
Kiddo came to me and said what happend and as the situation looked like I choose to react by lifting up the fainted kid to bring him indoors and call medical for safety. And parents of course later on etc.
Got help from some one I worked with eventually.
Became a big scenario when emergency team came and cops and parents and all.
The fainted kiddo was back to his good old self nearly at this point.
Principal and leaders and so on was there. No one talked with me about it really. They talked with medical, parents and cops. Nearest leader said I could take 5 min of do.
Some one told me later that he might should have been debriefing about this accident.
Maybe they should also have asked me how I where? Or say anything at all? Of course the kids are also important - the most important, but I was also there and it kinda freaked me out in many ways. Like did I overact and the kids where just playing brutal game for fun? Did I make a unnecesary big scenario? Choosig to act the wrong way as employee? Acted any kid of way in many ways?
In all Im asking if Im normal to have reactions to such incident cause that my employers didnt say anything to me about it barely looked at me it feels like I should let something I see as pretty serious not to be so?
