Hello Meg, & Congrat's on an amazing success. :thumbs-up I say this is all earnestness because telling even one nasty secret ever, takes an enormous amount of courage, and you told six, all at once. - Increasing freedom. Very well done, IMHO.
I still have some of my own which I've never told, and as you said they create shameful feelings and other negative feelings such as self-disgust which promote a set-up for encouraging my self-destruction and undermining my healing.
Also, perhaps you are one of other most stubborn, hard-headed people in this universe. But, in confidence I can assure you that you're not alone.
1 + 1 equals at least two of us. And, there's got to be more.
I remember completely feeling to my bones, while believing myself for a decade plus (how long exactly, I'm unsure), ............yet still feeling, believing and convinced I'm "hopelessly entrenched and un-fixable."
Just because we're feeling, believing and may be convinced of such, ...while often unconsciously gathering materials to reinforce such feelings and beliefs, doesn't mean that our such conclusions reflect much of reality at all, or chance and/or even the miracles which I truly believe do exist.
I'm not hopeless and neither are you, Ptsd lies to us in our own inner voice and thoughts and persuades us of such, often volunteering and signing up for overtime free-of-charge. We know, that Ptsd by it's nature, seriously and debilitatingly so lies, cheats and con's us.
You say here Meg,
The 'it' that you mention in your quote could also include anything we suffocate and inwardly beg for the denial of it's existence; That pain and stuff inside us that eats us alive. So, sometimes being good and bloody and sick and tired, provided we have secured for ourselves some proper help, resources, belief in (something/anything) and enough support from others can be a most positive and constructive place to arrive at.
It can provide us motivational factors to set out to accomplish that which we never before could imagine accomplishing prior to. We become ready, so to speak.
Also so much then is all up hill, regardless of the "pain for gain" ,,, "getting sicker before we getter better" approach.
From this point of view the average blessing and meal, ...tastes and nourishes us and is received as a gourmet meal. And, even a single hug can turn an entire day around with the right attitude.
Our individual healing work and journey's is ours and ours alone and it all rests upon our continuing initiatives and actions, and you're an example Meg, because you're engaging yourself in such.
We can set our priorities and keep up our positive initiatives, ...Each day at a time. And, so many of our positive initiatives is giving ourselves permission to Be and to Live, as we remain open and willing, taking upon us other positive healing initiatives as well.
Two little gifts from others (quotes) I've repeatedly heard along the way that I'd like to share with you are: (Likely have heard these before) But here goes:
• "Inch by inch, Life's a cinch. Yard by yard, Live is hard."
And,
• "Plan your work, then work your plan."
Congratulations Meg on damn hard work and Well Accomplished!
Sincerely,
Hope

Also, so bloody sick and tired of hiding and dealing with it anymore.
