Mom angry child is not mentally ill

My mother is angry I am NOT bi-polar. She will not accept I have Celiac Disease diagnosed and not my bi polar diagnosis of 20 years. Why would a mother be mad about this ?

Because your mother is insane? If she is abusive or belittling towards you, she obviously has issues and making it seem like you're the one who is crazy. I've witnessed this before and it is totally unfair for the child in the situation

Mother's being invested in having someone pathologized, are not uncommon around here.

From your post, I gather that you are at least in your mid thirties.

I'd suggest that you find a way to distance your self from your mother.

There's a decent literature on co- dependency available. I'd also suggest that you take a look at some of that, to see if it resonates with the situation you are finding your self in.

Narcissist maybe? Less sympathy for her. It could be similar to a a friend of mines parent who is known to ask money from from friends and family members to pay for their "poor disabled childs" medication, even though it isn't true. Could your mother being doing that and afraid of people finding out you have an illness that doesn't require medication? It took my friend years to find out her parent was doing that until an aunt complained that she was ungrateful because she never thanked anyone for all the money they had been out paying for her medication.

My friend does have a disability but medicare covers her medications. Her parent was just using it to milk money from people.
