Well, I just had a long conversation with Karen’s sister. There is no cause of death known. She was found on the floor next to her couch. There was no evidence of drugs. Probably, she had a cardiopulmonary crisis. She had been very short of breath and her doctors said the mitral valve was loose, but not so much that would explain her shortness of breath.
She talked quite a bit how the siblings were frustrated by Karen’s MCS and I was able to stand up for Karen and let her know how difficult this disease is. We know we’re hard on our family, but it’s not like we want to be chemically sensitive. Her sister seemed upset with how much Karen’s mother helped her over the past 20 years.
I do feel better having spoke to her. Karen is no longer in pain. Her condition was worsening, it did not appear to be a suicide. I also get why Karen bitched about her sister. Man, she had no empathy for Karen. So if she’s in a place called Heaven and she overheard our conversation, she’ll know that I was her biggest supporter and stood up for her. It really helped me accept that this is real, she died and it is a tragedy. I feel calmer now. She will let me know what the autopsy shows.
