My Biggest Progress Ever, Just Have To Share

Well, it may have been a small step towards success, but it sure took a toll on me. Spent most of the past week feeling like I'd been run over by a fully loaded beer truck, but never drank a drop. So, I rested and enjoyed just being lazy.

Of course, the stress of my computer break down has not helped either. I do believe my computer has had a severe brain hemorrhage and died.

Granma Herc,

Hi, I am Kitt and I am new here. Thank you for sharing your story as I find it very encouraging. I have been through some of the same issues as you but I skipped my 46th High School Reunion. You have true grit !

Kindly,
Kitt

Congrats on breaking through! It certainly does wipe you out after, but it's worth it!

I love this post as I had a similar experience last week. I attended my bestfriend's 50th birthday. She lives about 60 miles away and the party was at a restaurant. My hubby and kids came too. I had such a great time. I've known my friend for 25 years. Other old friends were there and we laughed and reminisced. It was great. I can't remember the last time I felt so happy.

My hubby and kids wanted to leave but I said no. I stood up for myself. I realized that everything I do is about and for them. Sometimes I feel like a rabbit caught on the same trail. I never learned how to have fun and relax. As an adult I decided I would give my kids the great life I never had and have based everything around them. I am a good codependant so this was easy.

But I loved the freedom of saying NO. This is about me, I'm having fun and I want to stay. I was thinking "hey, I drive you everywhere, I wait for you all the time, you can do this for me." They looked a bit shocked that I said it. My hubby kept bugging me but we stayed until I was ready to leave. And it felt so good and freeing to stand up for myself and my needs. I liked it and really couldn't remember the last time I felt that good. Plus with my husband doing the driving I didn't have the usual anxiety that accompanies me when I travel out of my usual daily routes. (Anyone else have that?)

Anyway it was nice to feel normal for a moment. I'd love more of it.

Way to go Gramma Herc and Beachmama! I totally agree with James. We need to stand up for ourselves in appropriate ways, at appropriate times. You two didn't just take small steps, they were big and you survived them, having some fun along the way! KUDOS!

So heartening to hear this. I have a hard time with saying no at times. Used to be ALWAYS, but am getting better. Glad to her these success stories of having some fun and letting the lighter side in!! So happy for you both...grandmaherc and beachmama!!!!! ; )
