My eldest left 3 years ago, he went into digs at Uni and has loved it. I cried; he didn't! We got on well before but it is better now. He has an appreciation of what it takes to plan meals and keep to a budget. He came home recently and said, 'I want to say something Mum.' I thought, 'Oh no, am I gonna be a Granny!' But he actually told me he was grateful for the way I had brought him up, strict but not overly so. He told me he had met numerous 'spoiled brats' who had everything given to them and never had to work for anything who just took everything for granted. I taught him to cook and he was shocked at how many kids couldn't do anything other than beans on toast or pasta.
I was so proud of him and it made all the hard work worth it.
Problem is, they are like boomerangs and keep coming home! :roflmao: He finishes Uni in June and is moving back in! We've got boxes everywhere already but kids can't even afford to rent in this country so they stay at home longer.
I've gotten use to the quiet.
