MyPTSD will be releasing an official monthly newsletter early this year. The newsletters first year is about finding what works, what doesn't, and a process of evolution to build a stable, quality PTSD based newsletter.

As some may have noticed, there is now a Link Removed available for members and guests to utilise in submitting content and suggestions for publication. At present we're accepting four (4) types of submissions:
  • Article - You have written an original PTSD / Supporter related article of approximately 300 - 1000 words, and would like to submit it for publication.
  • My Question - You have a PTSD related question that you would like an answer. (50 words or fewer)
  • My Story - You have written your story of trauma and PTSD, and would like it published. (no word limit)
  • Story Suggestion - You have an interesting topic in which you would like to suggest for a writer to research and publish.
This will no doubt expand based on what we would like to see included in the newsletter.

I included the "My Story" because there are many who want to write their story of abuse and PTSD as just that, as short story, as for those who want to publish it quite vastly, whether by name, anonymously or pseudonym, this will allow just that.

At present we're still researching and writing content to have many completed pieces prior to releasing the first, ensuring we have plenty of room for error in relation to available content for future release. Obviously we will shift content around with importance of subject / quality of submitted content and questions.

The submission process is all about you, the member and reader, and if you don't ask for it or share your work with us, then we can't write about it or publish it. Let me say, I would be disappointed to hear anyone complain that they aren't given the opportunity to voice themselves via this newsletter, because we have given you exactly this option via several means.

Don't try and be perfect with submissions, that's why we have editors. Editors will clean it up, modify as necessary, and make your story read amazingly well, without changing the context.

Subscription

To subscribe you must be a confirmed registered member of the community, which means you have registered and completed the email verification process. Members control their preference of receiving the newsletter via their account settings relevant page, being: [DLMURL]https://www.myptsd.com/c/account/br-newsletter-subscribe[/DLMURL].

All members are initially subscribed. Banned members and members who had previously opted out of admin email will be removed, initially, though from here forward the options are different within users account settings.

Rough Outline

Again, this is all in draft mode and a small team of writers and editors are working out the kinks and will refine the system as it develops. I say a small team, because that is what we're starting with. Two editors and a small amount of volunteers who have currently stated they will write content ongoing for the newsletter.

Our initial versions may have more content about certain topics than we would like, all depending on what submissions occur between now and the first release.

Those who want to join as writers, your way in is this... submit your content via our submission process, your finished stories and pieces, and our team will then ask people accordingly based on their overall interest. Many a person says they want to write monthly pieces, to do nothing, which leaves me to remove them from the group. So if you're serious about it, then submit your pieces via our form, tell us you would like to be part of the group, and continue submissions. If you have a regular schedule of valid content and want to be part, then it will be so, providing you continue writing, obviously.

Great idea!

May I ask a stupid question? I don't know if that would be a good topic for the news letter... I'd like to hear about the relationship between PTSD and being very neat and clean. I wonder if there are any stories, books, articles and so on about this.
I would love to hear stories of people who went through this/ spouses of people who went through this and how they overcame that challenge.

It may sound a bit silly, after all what's wrong with being neat? It's just that my husband really spends to much time cleaning and I spend to much time cleaning because I try to fulfill his standards which are often impossible to fulfill (for example cook without making the kitchen look dirty). I am really trying to understand why dirt is so bad in his world.

So basically I want to know if the newsletter would be the right place to ask for stories and articles about this.

I understand that this problem is pretty small compared to what some people are going through but to me it matters.

@Anthony

Have not found LEGAL thread here. By that I mean where we can share advise on pursuing legally the impact of the trauma(s). Diminished on many levels to seek, find and get the help I need on that level. Are there legal resources that we can share of those that understand PTSD, and could help?

Sounds really great Anthony. Will print out your post at work next week and go from there. Another one of your brilliant ideas.

@Lemontree,
There is no relationship between PTSD and being neat/clean, so I'm not sure what you're looking for. That is, sufferers run the spectrum from being anally-retentive neat and clean to messy slobs who never do anything domestic, just like the rest of society. Are you referencing it to OCD or the like? That's a separate issue altogether.

Just a quick update on the coming newsletter. We currently have 8 pieces at editing and certainly no shortage of content to write about. We're really looking for more submissions from members and guests, so we write about what they want, leaving less choices to us in choosing for readers. We're doing primarily member submitted content, and we have a good two months still up our sleeve before we deliver the first one. The more you get into us, the better our choice of selection for each newsletter.

I know people are writing their own pieces right now, and these additions will only give us more content to hopefully deliver a range of unique and interesting topics each month.

Just wanted to let people know that things are moving along.

Looking forward to the pending submissions, and remember, the more you submit to us via the form, the more content you get in the newsletter that you want.

A small amendment to this is that we're now going to push a bulletin instead of monthly newsletter. A bulletin contains the same information, but allows us to push it out as we require, instead of just monthly. Some months we may have several pieces that are easy and ready to go, others may take a month or two just to research and write.

Basically... a more flexible system that aligns more with the new homepage article system.
